The park is situated approximately 14 miles from the quaint, historic downtown of Lake City, making it close enough for a visit to local shops and restaurants, but far enough to maintain a peaceful, secluded atmosphere. Its specific placement is the true highlight:
- Alpine Loop Access: The park is located right on County Road 30 (CR 30), a key segment of the spectacular Alpine Loop National Backcountry Byway. This network of challenging 4x4 roads connects Lake City with Silverton and Ouray, and the park is specifically at the entrance to Cinnamon Pass, allowing for immediate ride-out access for Jeeps, ATVs, and other Off-Highway Vehicles (OHVs).
- Natural Beauty: Guests are surrounded by majestic mountain views and have the charm of a natural waterfall right above the park, which contributes to the quiet and appealing atmosphere. Abundant wildlife can be seen around the site, enhancing the true Colorado experience.
- Lake San Cristobal: The park is conveniently located along the route toward Lake San Cristobal, Colorado’s second-largest natural lake, offering fantastic opportunities for fishing, boating, and kayaking.
The facility is designed with spaciousness and convenience in mind. It provides dedicated On-site parking for your truck, trailer, and off-road vehicles, right alongside your RV. For accessibility, the park offers a Wheelchair accessible parking lot, ensuring comfortable access for all guests upon arrival.
- Full Hookups for Big Rigs: The park’s six private sites are large, measuring approximately 30x80 feet, specifically built to hold big rigs and their accompanying toys. All sites are full hookup, providing:
- RV water hookup
- Full sewer hookup
- Full 50-amp electric hookup (accommodating high-power needs)
- Personalized Hospitality: The owners/camp hosts are highly valued for their cordial, friendly, and welcoming nature. They provide plenty of information about the surrounding trails, attractions, and local history.
- Payment Convenience: The park makes transactions easy, accepting Credit cards and Debit cards for camping fees and purchases.
- Additional Accommodations: In addition to the private RV sites, the property also features a large, fully equipped cabin (3,000 sq ft) with 6 bedrooms, available for groups or families traveling without an RV.
- Restroom Facilities: Guests have access to clean, well-maintained restroom facilities.
- Direct Ride-Out Trail Access: This is a major highlight for OHV enthusiasts. You can ride your ATV, Jeep, or 4x4 vehicle directly from your site onto Cinnamon Pass and the Alpine Loop. This eliminates the need to trailer your vehicles, saving significant time and effort.
- Proximity to "Fourteeners": The park is a fantastic base for serious hikers and mountaineers aiming to summit Colorado's most famous 14,000-foot peaks (Fourteeners), including Sunshine Peak, Uncompahgre Peak (the sixth highest in Colorado), and Redcloud Peak.
- Large, Private Sites: The generous size of the six private sites (30x80 feet) ensures guests have ample space for slide-outs, awnings, and to comfortably park all their vehicles, offering a level of privacy and comfort rarely found in mountain RV parks.
- Fly Fishing: Anglers will appreciate the close proximity to the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River, which is nationally known for excellent fly fishing opportunities.
- Charming Waterfall Views: The immediate natural scenery, including the waterfall right above the park, provides stunning photo opportunities and a constant, relaxing soundtrack of running water.
- Exceptional Local Knowledge: The camp hosts are praised as being incredibly knowledgeable of the area, providing invaluable guidance for planning your daily hiking, riding, and sightseeing itineraries across the vast San Juan Triangle.

First, the site quality is top-tier. The RV park features a limited number of large, private sites, each with a reliable full 50-amp hookup. This means no fussing with limited space or inadequate power, making it perfectly suited for the largest and most modern rigs. Second, the location is unbeatable for exploration. Being situated directly on the Alpine Loop road leading to Cinnamon Pass means you gain immediate, on-demand access to hundreds of miles of thrilling 4x4 trails, minimizing transit time and maximizing adventure time. Third, the personal experience is exceptional. The friendly hosts, Jeff and Elizabeth, treat guests like family and provide local insights that no guidebook can match, ensuring you find the best hiking trails, fishing spots, and scenic vistas.
If your dream Colorado vacation involves conquering a Fourteener, exploring ghost towns like Animas Forks, or simply relaxing with the sound of a waterfall after a day of fly fishing, Grizzly RT RV Park provides the perfect blend of natural beauty, strategic access, and welcoming hospitality. It is a highly recommended, authentic, and premium basecamp experience in the heart of the Rockies.

July 04 · Phil BrownWonderful RV park. Location was perfect right on The Alpine Loop. The host, Jeff was very welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable of the area. Beautiful views and the waterfall right behind the park was great.
August 18 · Debby PriceThe camp hosts Jeff and his wife Elizabeth are both amazing. Jeff does an excellent job at keeping the park clean and taken care of. He walks the park numerous times a day making sure everything is in order. Very helpful and knowledgeable of amenities in town and knowledgeable of trails if riding ATVs or hiking. If you want to see wildlife or a Moose, he can point you in the right direction. The owners have selected great people to take care of their campground.
July 29 · Leigh ParkerThe owners Randy and Debbie are awesome! We enjoyed everything about this place. The mountains and scenery are magnificent. It is right off of the Alpine Loop. The experience was phenomenal. The park hosts from the beginning of the season up until Aug, Jeff and Elizabeth, were a prime example of what a good park host should be. Everyone we encountered was fun!
October 03 · Monna SmithThis is a beautiful RV Park with only 8 sites, full hookups, and holds your RV, truck, trailer, and your off road vehicles on your private site. A waterfall is right above the park. Makes it quiet and charming. Has the best views of the mountains. Ride out of the park right onto Cinnamon Pass. So convenient. I highly recommend this park. The owners Debbie and Randy are so nice.
