Situated near historic Fort Scott, the park aims to provide a convenient spot for those visiting the area, whether for a short stopover or a longer exploration of the city's rich history and surrounding natural beauty.
It's important to approach Fort Scott Crossroads RV Park with an understanding that it has been in a state of rehabilitation. While many RV parks promise a "resort" experience, recent customer feedback suggests that this park has been focused on foundational improvements, rather than luxurious amenities for transient travelers. This overview will provide insights based on publicly available information and customer reviews, helping Kansas locals make an informed decision for their next RV trip.
Fort Scott Crossroads RV Park is located at 2152 Native Rd, Fort Scott, KS 66701, USA. This address places it just outside the main downtown area of Fort Scott, offering a balance of being close to the city's attractions while providing a potentially quieter setting away from immediate urban bustle. Fort Scott itself is a town rich in history, notably home to the Fort Scott National Historic Site, which is a major draw for visitors to the region.
Accessibility to the park is generally straightforward, given its location within reasonable proximity to major roads leading into Fort Scott. For RVers traveling through Southeast Kansas, finding Native Road should be manageable. However, it's worth noting that past reviews have mentioned a lack of lighting upon nighttime arrival, which is a factor to consider if you anticipate arriving after dark. The park's location offers a practical base for exploring Fort Scott's historical landmarks, local dining, and other community offerings.
While the goal of any RV park is to offer a range of services for a comfortable stay, the available public information and customer reviews for Fort Scott Crossroads RV Park indicate a period of ongoing development and some historical challenges. Based on recent feedback, here's what has been reported regarding services:
- Full Hook-Up Sites (Under Development): The park's website states they boast "10 full hook-up, pull-thru sites." However, past customer reviews from 2023 indicated issues with hookups, including a lack of water at some spigots and unlevel sites. It is stated on their website they have new pedestals and hookups, but recent reviews indicate this may still be an ongoing improvement.
- Restrooms and Showers (Under Renovation/Limited Access): Customer reviews from 2023 highlighted that the bathroom building was "completely demolished" or inaccessible, with outdoor toilets and "ax markings on the doors." The park's website now states "a freshly remodeled bath house and laundry room." Given the disparity, it's crucial to confirm the current operational status and condition of these facilities before booking.
- Laundry Room (Under Renovation/Newly Remodeled): Similar to the bathhouse, a new laundry room is mentioned on their website as "newly remodeled." Past reviews did not indicate functional laundry facilities. Guests should verify the current availability and condition.
- On-Site Management/Staff Presence: Some past reviews mentioned no workers being present upon late-night arrival. While this might be specific to after-hours, potential guests should consider communicating with the park in advance for arrival instructions.
- Long-Term Stays: Reviews from 2023 indicated that the park seemed to primarily house "long term people" rather than transient travelers. This could affect the availability and atmosphere for nightly stays.
It is strongly advised for potential guests to contact the park directly to confirm the current operational status and availability of all desired services, especially given the varying information.
Given the nature of the available reviews, the features and highlights of Fort Scott Crossroads RV Park are best understood in the context of ongoing development and the park's stated intentions. While some past experiences have been challenging, the park's management appears to be working towards improvements. Here are the features and highlights based on the provided information, alongside considerations:
- Location Near Fort Scott Attractions: The park's proximity to Fort Scott National Historic Site and other local attractions is a definite highlight. This makes it a potentially convenient base for exploring the area's historical significance and cultural offerings.
- Stated Amenities (Under Improvement): The park's website highlights features such as "10 full hook-up, pull-thru sites," "6 newly restored cabins," a "freshly remodeled bath house and laundry room," a "swimming pool," and a "fishing pond." It is critical for visitors to verify the current operational status and condition of these amenities directly with the park, as past reviews indicated that some of these facilities were not fully functional or in the condition depicted in older marketing.
- Commitment to Improvement: Reviews suggest that the park is "trying to get it up to where it needs to be" and that "new owners are updating the campground." This indicates an active effort to improve the facilities, which, if successful, would be a positive development for future visitors.
- Potential for Quiet Setting: Being located slightly outside the immediate city center, the park could offer a quieter environment once all renovations are complete and the grounds are fully established.
- Accommodating Management (Post-Complaint): While some negative experiences were initially met with difficulty in contact, reviews suggest management "sure contacted us after the first negative review" and has since been working on improvements. This indicates a responsiveness to feedback, even if delayed.
It is highly recommended that any potential guest contact the park directly and ask for current photos or video proof of the site conditions and operational status of all desired amenities before booking, especially given the disparity in reviews and the ongoing nature of renovations.

Fort Scott Crossroads RV Park Reviews
I stayed here January of 2023. My review is no longer showing. Not sure if they changed the name? When we stayed it looked like long term people were living there and it was certainly not a “resort” for nightly travelers. Nothing was level and there were huge holes we discovered as my husband tried to hook up and fell in one. No lights (we arrived at night) and no workers. Toilets were outside what was supposed to be the restroom and there were ax markings on the doors to the restrooms. We did not feel safe at all.We did get a refund and only stayed one night (arrived at 10pm with nowhere else to go). We could never get ahold of anyone but they sure contacted us after the first negative review.I’m posting again bc we just drove by and I was curious if this place ever got better. From the looks of the reviews, this place is still “under construction” which is not posted on their website. The photos posted did not convey what was truly there and I found it suspicious there were so many 5 star reviews. Take notice of the disparity in these reviews as you read them. And mine was no longer listed.I highly recommend you ask for proof this place is up to standard before you book. I know a lot can change in 2 years but there are people still saying the same thing and I don’t want anyone getting duped.
Dec 08, 2024 · B&K AusteneNeeds some work, however they are trying to get it up to where it needs to be with that being said I have not been there since the fall of last year I do intend to go back and check it out again. I will update this review at that time.
Jun 11, 2025 · joe gilbertThis place is a joke. It is under construction and there were 10 sites but most of them look like people that stayed there a long time. I had reserved one spot and we were moved to another spot. I asked for pull thru, hoping we could keep our automobile connected. But the campsite was so uneven that we had to unhook, just to get the trailer level. there is no pool, it's all grown up with weeds around it. And nobody around, it might be a nice place someday, but not now.
Aug 24, 2024 · Donna TuckerGreat place to stay!!! Owners are hospitable and are always improving the park.
Apr 02, 2025 · Ben TeafordWe didn't even stay here. Drove through, beginning of the off season, and there was one guy staying there. He came out to talk to us and must have been on commission because he tried real hard to talk the place up. Nope. The roads, if you can call them that were super bumpy and not at all maintained. The pool was covered, but not completely, there was a sign that said no pets in the playground. There is no playground. $45 a night? Absolutely not. We're staying at Linn County Lake for $16 and it's level, and beautiful! I just read a one star review from someone who did stay here and said many of the same things and more. The new management said it was all due to renovations. That was 9 months ago. All spring and summer, and if they did the renovations at all, I didn't see any of it today, in November.
