For those exploring the Show-Me State or needing a convenient base near the Kansas City metropolitan area, RV parks offer a unique blend of flexibility, comfort, and a sense of community for travelers on the go. Campus RV Park aims to provide essential amenities and a practical location for your RV journey within the historic and vibrant city of Independence.
In the vast landscape of Missouri, finding the right place to park your RV, whether for a short overnight stay or an extended visit, is crucial. RV parks like Campus RV Park cater specifically to the needs of motorhome and travel trailer owners, offering a designated space with necessary hookups and facilities. This article will provide a detailed overview of Campus RV Park, focusing on its location, the services it offers, key features, and what to consider when planning your stay as a local user or visitor to the Missouri region.
Campus RV Park is conveniently situated at 500 W Pacific Ave, Independence, MO 64050, USA. While this is the physical address for navigation, it's also noted that their mailing address is 406 S. Pleasant Street. This location places the park centrally within Independence, a city rich in American history and cultural attractions, and just a short drive from the bustling heart of Kansas City.
The park boasts excellent accessibility, being close to major interstates (I-70 and I-435). This makes it a practical choice for those passing through Missouri or looking for a base to explore the wider Kansas City metropolitan area. Within Independence itself, guests have easy access to historical sites such as the Harry S. Truman Library and Museum, the 1859 Jail, and the National Frontier Trails Museum. Sporting enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity to Arrowhead Stadium (Kansas City Chiefs) and Kauffman Stadium (Kansas City Royals) for major league games. Local dining and shopping are also within convenient reach.
It is important to note that while the park provides convenient access to city attractions, some reviews mention the immediate surrounding area as "rough" or having "an issue with crime." Additionally, the park's setting is described as being near "event parking for a church" with trains running and blowing horns all night, which can impact quiet enjoyment. These are important considerations for those prioritizing a very serene or secluded environment.
Campus RV Park offers a range of services designed to make an RV stay comfortable and convenient. Based on available public information, these services typically include:
- Full Hookup Sites: All sites feature 30 & 50 Amp electric, water, and sewer connections, ensuring all essential utilities are readily available for RVs.
- Concrete Pads: Sites are on concrete pads, which are generally preferred by RVers for stability and ease of leveling, with some being up to 45 feet long.
- Restroom and Shower House: A newly renovated facility is available and open 24/7, with reviews often praising their cleanliness.
- Laundry Room: A renovated laundry facility is available for guest use, typically open from 7:30 AM to 9:30 PM.
- Wi-Fi: The park provides Wi-Fi access, though a review indicated it might not always be reliable.
- RV Storage: Monthly RV storage options are available, which can be beneficial for those needing temporary parking without hookups.
- Pet-Friendly: The park generally allows pets, with specific restrictions (e.g., two-dog limit, less than 50 pounds each).
- Mail and Package Acceptance: The park accepts mail and packages from major delivery companies.
- Dump Station: A dump station is available, with a fee for use if not a registered guest.
It's worth noting some past issues mentioned in reviews, such as initial site assignment errors or water pressure problems when multiple RVs shared a spigot. While these can be isolated incidents, they highlight the importance of confirming specifics upon arrival.
Campus RV Park, despite some mixed feedback, offers several features and highlights that can make it a suitable option for certain RV travelers:
- Full Hookup Concrete Sites: The availability of full hookup sites with concrete pads is a significant advantage, providing stability and convenience for RV setup. Many reviews mention the level concrete pads as a positive.
- Proximity to Kansas City and Independence Attractions: Its location is a major draw, offering easy access to historical sites, museums (like the Truman Library), sports stadiums, and entertainment options in both Independence and the greater Kansas City area. This makes it ideal for those looking to explore the region.
- Clean Facilities: The newly renovated laundry room and 24-hour bathroom/shower house are often praised for their cleanliness, which is a key factor for comfort in RV parks.
- Supportive Staff (Mixed Reviews): While some experiences point to initial disorganization or communication issues, other reviews laud the "friendly" staff and owners, with one reviewer specifically appreciating helpful advice on storage options that saved them money.
- Security Measures: One review mentioned the presence of "lots of cameras" and feeling "secure," which can provide peace of mind despite concerns about the surrounding area.
- Extended Stay Options: The park offers extended stay options, although not permanent year-round parking, which is beneficial for those needing longer-term accommodation in the area.
However, it is crucial to acknowledge the less favorable feedback as well:
- Noise from Trains: Multiple reviews highlight significant noise from trains, including horn blowing, throughout the night. This can be a major deterrent for light sleepers.
- Concerns about Surrounding Area and Safety: Some guests reported feeling that the immediate neighborhood was "rough" and experiencing attempted break-ins, raising serious safety concerns for some.
- Pricing Concerns: Several reviews deemed the nightly rate "wildly overpriced" for the perceived value, especially given some of the functional issues and location characteristics.
- Water Pressure/Sharing Issues: An instance was noted where sharing a water spigot led to insufficient water pressure for two RVs.
Prospective guests should weigh these factors carefully based on their priorities for an RV park stay.

Campus RV Park Reviews
Owners we are very nice if a bit organized. We were first given an occupied site and then a site without functional water hookup. Since our slides were out and we were unhooked, they told us to hook up to the next site over. No big deal. They said if someone else came in that’s put them on the end. Well someone else did come in, and they put them in the site we were told to use for water. They just had them hook to our Y. We then had issues washing clothes and showering because the spigot didn’t have the pressure for two RVs.The location is in a rough area that apparently has an issue with crime. It’s basically in the event parking for a church and it’s just the back row of the lot transformed into an RV park by alternating strips of neglected grass, concrete, and pedestals. Trains run (and blow horns) all night.I had someone try to break into my RV while my family visited other family (so my truck was gone). I was sick so stayed behind. I was getting a drink in the kitchen and heard my keypad lock deny entry twice. I heard the footsteps of them leaving after my German Shepherd politely told them to leave. I wasn’t fast enough to see them.If there were any competition at all in the KC area, this place wouldn’t survive. $40/night is wildly overpriced. This is a $20, maybe $30 if you didn’t have to share water, campground at best.I won’t be returning thanks to safety concerns.
May 15, 2025 · Kimberly BurlisonI was in a bind and needed a place to store my camper for a couple days while I got brakes put on my vehicle. The person working told me, why not just use one of the storage spots since I didn't need electricity or water. That saved me a lot of money. And when a couple days turned into over a week, that advice was even more helpful and really appreciated. It was in a secure location with lots of cameras.
May 20, 2025 · Danny ZachPerfect location. It's a short walk to wonderful restaurants and bars. Level sites, full hookups. We did not use the WIFI or bathrooms. Large grass field for dogs and playing. The couple that run the park are very nice and accommodating.
Mar 25, 2025 · David & Tara Vick30 and 50 AMP. Cement pads with grass between sites. Easy access to water, electric, and sewer. Didn't use bathrooms or laundry. Urban location. Looks like some people live there in their campers. Train is very noisy all night long. Lots of sirens. Customer service is not great. Had to check in via Ring doorbell (had a reservation) and the next morning the other owner confronted us about paying (we had paid with CC and had the receipt).
Apr 19, 2025 · Nicole BinczikManagement are not the friendliest of people.this is not the place you want to stay if your looking for nice rv park with friendly staff not a lot of space between Rvs they would tell my I was probably going to have to move because my lot was rented to someone else the next day. I was paying 1500 a month for the lot.I'm now at a much nicer with friendlier staff for 400 a month. Change your management. You will have more business!
