Brookside RV Park Introduce
Nestled directly on Main Street in the charming community of Chester, California, **Brookside RV Park** provides a convenient and notably quiet basecamp for travelers exploring the stunning Lake Almanor Basin and the breathtaking landscapes of Lassen Volcanic National Park. This intimate facility operates more like a specialized residential RV community than a traditional, sprawling campground, offering a more serene and less busy environment for those who appreciate peace and quiet on their outdoor adventures.
The park is specifically designed for RVs only, with a limited number of **16 sites**, ensuring a cozy and manageable scale. This focus on tranquility is one of its most defining characteristics, as highlighted by local users who describe it as a “Very nice quite apartment in the heart of Chester.” Its unique position on the main thoroughfare of Chester means guests have immediate, easy access to the town's services, shops, and restaurants, offering a level of convenience not often found in more remote campgrounds.
While the park offers full hookups and essential amenities for a comfortable stay, prospective guests should be aware of the park's strict emphasis on quiet enjoyment. The environment is best suited for those looking to relax quietly after a long day of fishing, boating, or hiking, rather than for large social gatherings. For the traveler prioritizing a central location and a genuinely peaceful atmosphere near Northern California's most spectacular natural attractions, Brookside RV Park serves as an excellent, conveniently situated option.
Brookside RV Park is ideally located at **286 Main St, Chester, CA 96020, USA**. Chester is a welcoming mountain town that serves as the primary business hub for the entire Lake Almanor Basin, sitting at an elevation of approximately 4,500 feet where the Sierra Nevada meets the Cascade Range.
The park's location right on Main Street is highly advantageous for local users. It provides the rare benefit of being within easy walking distance of local quaint shops, restaurants, the Chester-Lake Almanor Library and Museum, and the beautiful Chester Park, which lies along the North Fork of the Feather River.
Critically, the park is a gateway to major regional attractions:
- **Lake Almanor:** Just minutes away, offering 52 miles of shoreline for fishing, boating, swimming, and the paved 19-mile Lake Almanor Recreation Trail for hiking and biking.
- **Lassen Volcanic National Park:** A short, scenic drive away, providing access to geothermal wonders, volcanic peaks, and extensive hiking trails.
For accessibility, the facility provides **Wheelchair accessible parking lot** accommodations, and all RV sites offer **On-site parking** for convenience. Its central location on a major road also makes it straightforward to navigate and access, even for larger RVs.
Brookside RV Park focuses on providing the foundational services necessary for a comfortable and convenient RV-only stay, primarily catering to long-term and short-term visitors who are fully self-contained. The park's sixteen sites are designed to be self-sufficient retreats in the heart of the town.
- **Dedicated RV Sites:** Features 16 private sites designed for **RVs only**, with no tent camping permitted.
- **Full Hookups:** All RV sites are equipped with **full hookups**, which typically include water, sewer, and electric services.
- **Connectivity:** The park provides modern connectivity with **internet (Wi-Fi)** access and **TV/Cable hook-ups** available at the sites.

- **Parking:** Convenient **On-site parking** is provided within the park grounds for registered guests.
- **Terms:** The facility is available for booking **All Year**, providing a reliable option for year-round adventurers.
- **Pet Policy:** While a pet policy is not explicitly listed in the provided details, guests should always contact the park directly to confirm rules regarding pets prior to arrival.
Brookside RV Park's strongest highlights center on its prime location and its commitment to providing a tranquil experience, differentiating it from larger, noisier resort-style parks.
- **Unbeatable Downtown Location:** Situated directly on Main Street, it places guests in the center of Chester, allowing for easy walks to the town's amenities, dining options, and local attractions like the Chester Park on the North Fork of the Feather River.
- **Gateway to Recreation:** It serves as an optimal and fast basecamp for exploring the two largest natural assets of the region: **Lake Almanor** (for world-class fishing, boating, and the 19-mile paved Recreation Trail) and **Lassen Volcanic National Park** (for hiking and geothermal sightseeing).
- **Guaranteed Quiet Environment:** The park is recognized for its commitment to maintaining a **quiet, apartment-like atmosphere**. This is a significant advantage for travelers seeking a highly peaceful retreat and restful nights, rather than a social, high-energy campground.
- **Full Utility Access:** The presence of **full hookups** (water, sewer, electric), as well as internet and TV/cable hook-ups, ensures that visitors can enjoy the beauty of the area with all the comforts and conveniences of home.
- **RV-Only Community:** Catering exclusively to RVs and trailers, the park maintains a focused environment designed specifically for the needs and expectations of RV owners.

Brookside RV Park is an ideal choice for the self-contained RV traveler who prioritizes **location, convenience, and tranquility**. Unlike many large recreational parks where noise and activity are common, Brookside offers a purposefully quiet and non-social atmosphere that allows for genuine rest and relaxation, as noted by its satisfied, long-term guests.
You should choose Brookside if:
- Your primary goal is to use your RV as a comfortable and fully-equipped home base for day trips to Lassen Volcanic National Park or Lake Almanor.
- You value the convenience of being able to walk from your site to the downtown shops and services of Chester, minimizing the need to drive for every errand.
- You are looking for a highly peaceful, "quiet apartment" style of RV living, requiring minimal noise and social distraction.
Its sixteen full hookup sites make it a scarce and desirable option for those who know exactly what they are looking for in a base for their Northern California mountain exploration. By setting clear expectations regarding the quiet nature of the park, Brookside ensures a suitable environment for those who wish to return to a peaceful haven after an adventurous day.

Brookside RV Park Reviews
Owner is a nut! Told us we were having a frat party!?! There was 6 of us. We were cooking out and playing cornhole (nothing out of the normal for a rv park) he freaked out saying everyone was complaining and we were too loud! The closet occupied spot to us was out talking with us so he was fine with it. We packed up and left go somewhere else unless you want to sit in you rv or camper in silence all day and night. I think the owner just hates his life so he wants everyone to be miserable. Sites are very small too no wifi no bathrooms or showers
