For many South Carolina residents and visitors, the allure of RV living lies in the freedom it offers—the ability to explore, to connect with nature, and to find a peaceful escape from the everyday. If you're searching for an RV park in the Conway, SC area, you might be considering a variety of factors: location, amenities, and the overall atmosphere. Big Cypress Lake RV Park, located at 6531 Browns Way Shortcut Rd, Conway, SC 29527, USA, offers a distinct experience that caters to those seeking a more tranquil and nature-focused RV stay.
It's important to understand that not all RV parks are designed with the same purpose or offer the same array of services. Big Cypress Lake RV Park emphasizes a serene and natural environment, appealing to those who prioritize peace and quiet over bustling activities. This article will provide a detailed look into what Big Cypress Lake RV Park offers, helping you determine if it aligns with your ideal RV adventure or long-term living plans in the Palmetto State.
Big Cypress Lake RV Park is strategically situated at 6531 Browns Way Shortcut Rd, Conway, SC 29527, USA. This address places it in a more secluded, natural setting, away from the immediate hustle and bustle of downtown Conway. While some might prefer an RV park directly adjacent to major attractions, Big Cypress Lake's location is a significant draw for those desiring a quieter, more immersed-in-nature experience.
While the park offers a peaceful retreat, it remains within a reasonable driving distance to the conveniences of Conway. Conway itself is a charming historic town offering local shops, dining options, and access to the Waccamaw River. For those looking for more extensive entertainment and beach access, the popular Myrtle Beach area is approximately 15 miles away. This positioning means that while you can enjoy the quiet solitude of the park, you’re not entirely cut off from the vibrant attractions and essential services of the wider Grand Strand region. Accessibility to major routes, though potentially requiring a bit more travel on local roads, allows for exploration of the broader South Carolina coast and inland attractions.
Big Cypress Lake RV Park focuses on providing fundamental services necessary for a comfortable RV stay, particularly for those looking for longer-term arrangements. While it may not boast an extensive list of resort-style amenities, its offerings cater to a specific need:
- Full hookup campsites: Sites are equipped with electric, city water, and sewage connections, ensuring a comfortable stay for RVs.
- 20/30/50 amp electric hookups: Accommodating a range of RV sizes and power needs.
- Crushed limestone campsites: Designed to provide stability and a solid base for RVs.
- Private bathhouse: Offering essential facilities for personal hygiene.
- Prewired cable TV and Internet availability (for monthly stays): Providing connectivity options for residents.
- Waste management and refuse collection.
- Site leasing primarily for monthly or long-term stays: Emphasizing a more permanent or extended living arrangement rather than short-term transient visits.
- Tent sites available: Catering to a more traditional camping experience for those without RVs.
- Pet-friendly (restrictions and fees may apply, guests should inquire directly).
It's important for prospective guests to confirm the most current services and any associated fees directly with the park management, as offerings can evolve and specific details may vary.
Big Cypress Lake RV Park distinguishes itself with a focus on natural beauty and a tranquil environment. The highlights of this RV park are centered around its serene setting and unique offerings:
- Private Mile-Long Spring-Fed Fishing Lake: This is arguably the most significant highlight. The park offers free year-round fishing for guests, with the lake stocked with Largemouth Bass, Bream, and Large Crappie. This feature provides an excellent opportunity for relaxation and recreation right within the park.
- Three Fishing Decks: Conveniently located along the lake, these decks provide ample space for guests to cast their lines and enjoy the fishing experience.
- Walking and Bicycle Trail beside the Lake: For those who enjoy light exercise or simply strolling through nature, a dedicated trail runs alongside the water, offering picturesque views and a chance to observe wildlife.
- Non-Commercial, Serene, Quiet Atmosphere: The park prides itself on offering a peaceful environment, making it ideal for those who wish to escape the noise and crowds often associated with more commercialized RV resorts. It's described as a "Nature Lovers Paradise and a Fisherman's Dream."
- Open Green Space and Water Space: The property offers ample open areas, contributing to a feeling of spaciousness and natural immersion.
- Monthly and Long-Term Stay Focus: For those seeking extended stays, whether for work, a peaceful retreat, or a long vacation, the park's emphasis on monthly and long-term leases makes it a practical and potentially cost-effective option.
These features appeal specifically to RVers who value a quiet, natural setting with opportunities for fishing and enjoying the outdoors, rather than a wide array of organized activities or resort-style amenities.

Big Cypress Lake RV Park offers a compelling and distinct option for South Carolina locals, especially those residing in or near the Conway area, who are looking for a unique RV experience. Its suitability for locals stems from several key aspects that cater to specific preferences and lifestyles.
Firstly, for residents who own RVs and are seeking a long-term or extended place to park their rig, whether as a primary residence, a seasonal escape, or a temporary base for work, the park's focus on monthly leases is highly advantageous. This provides a more stable and potentially more affordable solution than short-term nightly rates found at many tourist-oriented RV resorts.
Secondly, the park's defining characteristic—its peaceful, non-commercial, and natural atmosphere—is a significant draw for locals seeking a genuine escape. In a region that can sometimes be bustling with tourism, Big Cypress Lake RV Park offers a tranquil oasis. For those who enjoy fishing, wildlife observation, or simply relaxing in a quiet, undisturbed setting, this park provides the ideal backdrop. It's a place where the sounds of nature prevail over urban noise, offering a true sense of calm and rejuvenation.
While some reviews highlight a more rustic environment and fewer traditional amenities compared to larger resorts, this very aspect is what makes it suitable for locals who prioritize nature and simplicity. It caters to those who are self-sufficient in their RV living and appreciate a less "managed" and more authentic outdoor experience. The availability of a private fishing lake and walking trails further enhances its appeal for local outdoor enthusiasts.
Finally, its proximity to Conway, despite being nestled away, means that essential services, local charm, and even the popular Myrtle Beach attractions are within a reasonable drive. This balance allows locals to enjoy the peace of their RV park while still having convenient access to all that the Grand Strand has to offer, without being directly in the thick of tourist activity. For a South Carolina local who values quiet, long-term stability, and a close connection to nature in their RV lifestyle, Big Cypress Lake RV Park presents a uniquely fitting choice.

Big Cypress Lake RV Park Reviews
If I could a zero star review I would. This place is 45 minutes inland from Conway SC - - nothing around to do.Absolutely terrible and rude management. No ammenities on site. No paved parking pads. Dirt lots, grass fields. All the critters and wildlife you’ll fight to keep out of your trailer, no grass cutting, outdated, old bathhouse (1 shower/1 toilet for 20+ RV’s).They’ll try and entice you with a “lower price” ONLY accept cash and only month to month leases no short term stays. The “lower price” is the same as Crooked Oaks (see my review there) and it’s a no brainer - this place sucks. Then you’ll be hawk eyed by the full time RV residents watching everything you do and then reporting back to the manager (who lives across the pond from the park and watches individual lots nightly with binoculars). SO CREEPYIt’s a good old boys club. If that’s your style, mud lots, no ammenities and no service, you’ll love it.Everyone else - look elsewhere. This place is a scam.
Aug 27, 2024 · Ray RosaniaThis is a wonderful place to stay. If you are here for work or pleasure. You will love it here. The only noise you hear is the wildlife. The people here are all nice and quiet. The lake is full of fish.

Jan 27, 2022 · Trish MessingerWe found this RV Park in the Good Sam's book. Being new to Good Sam's we did not fully understand how to find their parks. This is Definitely NOT a Good Sam's Park. We called and they told us $45 per night, CASH, full hook-ups, no cable or internet (this is only for the long term people). We arranged a sight. ,She gave me another number to call when we were close, her husband would check us in. We got there and called, we waited about 15 min. for him to show up. There was NO office, NO laundry, just a shower house on the corner of the property. She told me we would be backed up to the lake in a shaded spot. We were backed up to a ditch with trees growing in it facing the slough part of the "Lake". The hook-ups were on the wrong side of the camper forcing us to wait until we were leaving to move the camper to dump our tanks. There was NO trash dumpster. We had to drive it up the road 2 mi. to the local recycling plant. We should have followed our instincts and went on when they told us CASH. Definitely when we saw the sights, or lack there of. I would strongly suggest NOT staying at this park.
Jul 05, 2015 · Denise BondererThought we'd be parked by all the RV's instead we were parked by mobile homes on the property turned out to not be such a bad spot. Park was quite no one disturbed you. Everyone was nice and welcoming.. the only dislike the park is far from everything!! And a little pricey!! All and all we would definitely stay again owner is very nice.
