A Big Wheel RV Park Reviews
Absolutely loved this family owned campground. Lots of loving care in this place. The sites feel spacious, everything pristine clean, well maintained with all the amenities. Great cement pads to park trailer and truck, no leveling problems. The staff always so attentive. We stayed 5 nights, full service and loved it. Their little twosome table and chairs next to the fire pit and the lovely piece of property next to our site was so tastefully done. We’d highly recommend. Close to stores, state park, lovely towns nearby too and the fabulous Cumberland island where we spent a day.
Dec 12, 2024 · Suzanne DaigleThis is a super quiet little park with very nice staff and neighbors. We seemed to get here at the tail end of the "seasonal period" and it appeared that there were quite a few people who has been hunkered down for a while. During our 4 week stay, we did see a LOT of turnover however, so the park has very few permanent residents. It also seemed like based on our timing, the park was just "waking up". When we first arrived, it did not appear like the landscaping was maintained very well, with lots of overgrown weeds, Spanish Moss hanging so low you need to duck, dead leaves covering everything on the ground, and we had to get a pole to lift up some tree limbs in order to extend one of our slides. We did notice after about a week, that they began doing some landscape cleanup work at the other end of the park working towards us. On our last week, we did see them raking at the site across from us, so I think we just had bad timing to see the park in it's prime. The good side to the trees was that we were well shaded and protected from the storms and high winds that came through the area while we were here. The ladies in the office were super sweet and very accommodating. Electric "browned out" one time when one leg of our 50 amp got low on voltage, and the water pressure seemed to ebb and flow, but was sufficient on most days. Dog park was kinda small and no grass, with other places within the park that would have made a better spot for it, but plenty of grass for them throughout the park, so it wasn't an issue. Easy access to highways for checking out the area, and lots to do in St Mary's plus surrounding areas both north and south. We consider this a solid "B" park, and would stay here again if we were coming through, and really enjoyed having the concrete pads and paved roads versus gravel, just wish they were a little wider for the size of our rig. We camped at A Big Wheel RV Park in a Motorhome.
Feb 14, 2024 · Jeff TillettThis is a charming place. We got to spend one night here. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Only reason I’m not giving a 5 star is the fact that at checkout I wanted to reach someone in the office but they were out for lunch. I could not find a sewer hookup on my site. I was fortunate to find another guest who had stayed on my site before. Turned out that there was no sewer hookup and pointed me to a main dump. No big deal, just a bit of frustration that would have been addressed by providing that info during check-in or being available via phone.I would definitely stay here again.
Mar 26, 2025 · Carlos MorenoThis a smaller, quiet, beautiful and friendly RV park, all of the sites are level and most are paved. The park was laid out around the large trees which provide shade and privacy between sites. There are lots of plants, orange trees and a decent size pond. The owners are doing a great job to maintain the RV park. They have a rec room with books and games, there a lots of tables to use in there. There are four shower/restroom combos they are very clean. There is a laundry room with three washers and dryers. If you have a dog, they have a small fenced in dog park. The park itself is a nice walk but there is also a walking trail behind the park in the trees which makes it nice when it’s hot. If you need more hiking trails Crooked river state park just across the street. We definitely will be back.
Jan 31, 2023 · Melissa G.Wonderful place to stop or stay awhile. We love Karen and Colleen. The new owner is also wonderful. A family business and they maintain order within the campground to see that everyone is happy. Small personal campground. No play yard and it's a quiet campground. But Crooked River State park and the river boat access is just down the road. We have enjoyed our winters with them. It's been one of our best camping experiences. Sites are level concrete with ample space between sites. Trees and plants give a sense of privacy. Restrooms are amazing and having had surgery while here, I found the handicap bathroom set up well for what I needed. We have found lots to do in the area. Boots the campground cat has kept us entertained and become one of our most precious companion while at the campground. Wifi has its ups and downs, but we haven't found it a big issue for us. If wifi dependent, best to provide your own or available through local company. Historic St Mary's beautiful water front and all services within 15 mins of campground.
