Wolf's Den Family Campground Reviews
Overall a fine, but average experience. Park was clean and the site was fine though a bit tight and sloped....but it was acceptable. Internet was not working, but things happen. What I did not like was that despite the place being not busy at all (midweek) we were still charged an early arrival fee (we were about 2 hours before check in). It is the owner's right to charge the fee, but it just seems like a money grab with our site clearly had nobody on it for days and there was no need to do a expedited cleaning or anything like that. It just felt like being hit for 20 bucks for not hitting traffic and showing up early. The other fee was the "guest" fee simply for having someone drop by the campsite and hang out for literally an hour. This seems unnecessary.....our son's grandfather who lives in the area just wanted to stop in and say hello and was informed that he would need to pay 10 dollars just to drive down through a mainly empty campground to sit with us for 45 minutes. They even charge a deposit for borrowing a basketball.Bottom line is it all just seemed like to much! I do understand the need for rules, regulations and procedures. And we just stayed for a night so it really didn't matter. But I would not stay again. It just seemed like a weirdly militaristic vibe that is contradictory to a relaxing good time. Just not for us.
Sep 23, 2024 · Steve NadramiaI can’t wait to be there for the season! I have been camping there since I was a little girl and now I’ll finally will have a place of my own there as an adult. I am so excited!!
Mar 13, 2025 · Denise McNamaraWe had nice corner spot. Pretty quite. Near the bathrooms. The showers were out of order. Only usable one was the handicap one. Bathrooms could have used a good cleaning. While walking our dog she was attacked by another dog. It was very traumatic for all of us. The owner of the other dog had them on a retractable leash. Which are not allowed according to your rules. We will not be back. I feel like we should have been compensated at least a night.I would also like to add that the whole campground could use a good mowing and week whacking.
Aug 19, 2024 · Karen DwireThis campsite was a lovely family friendly campsite. There was live music and a pool and the best part was that by 10:00 all the noise was over. However I have to knock off a couple stars because my site wasn't very level I had to really adjust everything to try to make sure I could sleep but it was okay in the end. It seemed that a lot of the other sites were very level. I enjoyed the proximity to Mystic and was able to visit there. There was a gentleman who worked at the deaths that helped me get the cable set up I haven't had a campground with cable in a long time it was very good.
Sep 23, 2024 · Claudia SpazianteOur family used to love this campground, and have been camping here for years, since our daughter was around five years old. It was bought out along with Nelson’s Campground, by a corporation. First of all it’s no longer run by a family like it says on the website. We went this past memorial weekend, and they were clearly not ready to have a full campground without the pool working properly. We couldn’t swim on Saturday because the pools chemicals were still off, and supposedly they have been working on it for weeks. They don’t have a store yet, because they haven’t finished renovations on the building as of yet, so registration was in the old Arts and Craft building. And there was no camp store. Two of the most important things that they should have ready for a major holiday weekend, were not ready for use. That’s definitely due to the new owners/management. They should credit campers that had to pay for a three day holiday weekend, but couldn’t use some of the amenities. I do hope they take care of these items issues as soon as possible. I can say with sadness, that we will not be going back anytime soon.
