Windy Rivers Campground Reviews
You won't find a more quite peaceful place to camp. Our host was outstanding and the view from our camp was wonderful. We will definitely remember this place called, "Windy Rivers"
May 01, 2025 · James HartsockWe came out on vacation and had been tent camping the entire time. We were booking sites through Hipcamp until we went on google looking for other campsites in the local area and it DID NOT disappoint! Windy Rivers campground is beyond awesome when it comes to location and the people that both stay there and the owner. We camped right on the edge of the river where you can fish and swim, which we had done a bit of both. The view was great! If you do go tenting camping, they have a washroom with a toilet and shower for you to use. You’re also still in Rogersville, so it’s not that long of a drive to get to Walmart of the other local restaurants and stores.Windy Rivers is very family friendly and also pet friendly! Everyone there is very welcoming and friendly to newcomers and people just passing on in for a few nights. The owner is more than accommodating and overall an awesome guy! We will definitely be coming back again and hopefully with an RV next time around! We enjoyed our time there! It’s a very fun place to go stay and highly recommend going there whether you have an RV or are rent camping.
Jul 06, 2024 · Desiree JohnsonChecked in on June 15th. Owner had us pay $200 for the last two weeks of June plus a $300 deposit. When arriving we found out there were 0 amenities at this park apart from having full hook up, not even a dumpster. At the beginning of July. We paid for the full month of July which was $400 (you get what you pay for) and, due to unforeseen circumstances that had nothing to do with the park or the owner, had to leave on July 14th. I spoke with the owner about our early departure and he told me he would come and get the electric reading 5 days later and give us our remaining amount then. I received a text message 2 days early stating that $180 was left under a sign at the RV park for us to pick up. I told him at that time that number seemed low since he was only charging $100 per week and our electric bill for the two weeks we stayed in July was $120 (double what the two weeks in June were but I understand it comes off the meter so there's nothing to be argued there). I mentioned I was surprised we weren't getting any money back for the last two weeks of July that we weren't going to be there. Mind you this park was not full, still had plenty of spots if any other reservations needed to be made. He told me he doesn't give refunds. I told him that's fine if that's how he conducts his business. He then told me he would "eat it" and go ahead and refund me $100 of the lot fees (one week's reimbursement instead of two). I told him that's fine but the math doesn't add up on it. He wanted to continue to argue with me about it. While he and my husband were in the presence of each other, I called the owner, Keith, because it seemed through text messages that both myself and the owner were getting frustrated and I was trying to alleviate that. I figured maybe if we calmly spoke to each other that any confusion or misunderstanding would be worked out. Boy was I wrong. While on the phone with him he continually talked over me until I got fed up and told him to please stop and let me finish saying what I was saying. He did stoped for a moment, then proceeded to talk over me again just before telling me to shut up and then hung up on me. Keith then proceeded to spend the next hour arguing with me through text messages telling me to tell my husband this and that, all after he threw his hands up and drove away from my husband. He then wanted our home address so that he could mail us a check for the remaining $100. At which point I told him I was not comfortable giving him any of our personal information considering the way he was acting. He said it doesn't matter. He has it from the contract that we signed when we first got to the park and that he would be mailing a check to that address. I explained to him for the third time that we travel full-time in our RV for work and that we would not even be home to receive that check until sometime in December. Which is why we made arrangements to meet him on Thursday before leaving town to go to the next job location. He then wanted to tell me to meet him at different locations at different times after my husband and I had already told him to just keep the $100 because it's not worth the aggravation that he's causing over it. Instead of leaving it at that he continues to argue with me in text messages saying he didn't drive away and that I was talking over him. I told him at least three times in messages to stop messaging me and stop telling me to relay messages to my husband considering my husband in agreement with every message that I was sending to the Keith the park owner. It got to a point where my husband had to call him from my phone to tell him to stop messaging me and to leave me alone because he was being so unnecessarily rude and relentless towards me for HOURS. I understand that when you leave early you don't always get your money back and if that was going to be the overall decision I could accept it. But the level of disrespect and unprofessionalism that followed my inquiry was unbelievable.
Jul 16, 2024 · Tabatha MeyerGreat place to stay. Relaxing staying at the river. Nice owner very helpful, keith thanked us for his business ( that means a lot) fishing was nice, caught a catfish
Jul 14, 2024 · Sarina WoodbyBeautiful campground! Peaceful! The owner Keith is absolutely the best, he goes above beyond for the campers. He told us about the 3 hour river float and let us borrow his kayak. We will definitely be coming back.
