Willis Creek Park Group Camping Site Introduce
Welcome to the **Willis Creek Park Group Camping Site**—a premier destination for groups, family reunions, and large organizational outings right here in the heart of Central Texas. Located on the picturesque shores of Granger Lake, this U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) park provides a specialized area designed specifically to accommodate gatherings of up to 50 people, offering a perfect blend of lakeside recreation and essential group amenities.
For Texans looking to organize a memorable event away from the hustle of the city, this site is a fantastic option. It offers the rare benefit of a secluded, dedicated space while providing the infrastructure you need, including a substantial covered pavilion and easy access to the water for fishing and relaxing. The Willis Creek area is known for its natural beauty, situated in the gently rolling hills of the Texas Blackland Prairie, offering an exceptional backdrop of wildflowers, especially in the spring.
It is important for users to note the distinction: Willis Creek Park contains various camping areas, including standard RV sites and equestrian sites, but this particular listing focuses on the dedicated **Group Camping Site/Shelter**. This specific area is designed for communal activities and overnight tent camping for large parties. The Group Shelter is often reserved for private use, ensuring your group has the space and tranquility to enjoy the Texas outdoors together. Its large, covered picnic area makes it an ideal spot regardless of the Central Texas weather—providing relief from the sun or a dry place during a sudden rain shower.
Whether you are hosting a church retreat, a scouting expedition, a large family gathering, or a corporate team-building event, the Willis Creek Park Group Camping Site offers a well-equipped, scenic, and dedicated home base. Its proximity to Granger Lake means outdoor fun is always on the itinerary, securing its place as a top choice for group recreational planning in the Lone Star State.
The Willis Creek Park Group Camping Site is part of the larger Willis Creek Park complex managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) on Granger Lake. It is located near the small community of Granger, placing it conveniently northeast of the greater Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area.
The address provided for the general area is: Unnamed Road, Granger, TX 76530, USA.
Access to the park is typically from County Road 348 near Granger, Texas. While it feels sufficiently removed from main traffic areas, as noted in user reviews, the park is still easily reachable by Texas's excellent network of county and farm-to-market roads. This balance of being "away from all the main traffic but still close to the water" is a significant draw for local users.
The site is highly accessible, even for guests with mobility needs, as the entire park facility, including the specific Group Camping Site, features a **wheelchair accessible parking lot** and disabled access to its amenities. The location on the Willis Creek arm of Granger Lake provides direct and tranquil access to the water's edge, perfect for shoreline activities. Its relative closeness to towns like Taylor (less than 9 miles away, according to local users) means that essential supplies, like groceries from H-E-B or Walmart, are just a short drive away, blending the secluded feel of nature with practical convenience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1nice place away from all the main traffic but still close to the water. Has a big covered area and 4 grills with water and restrooms.
July 11 · Craig LangeThe site is large, so there is plenty of space for tents. The Picnic Pavilion is good sized, with a water spigot, drinking fountain, 4 picnic benches under cover, 2 sets of electric outlets, and overhead lights. There is direct access to the water for fishing, a volleyball court, and a fire ring.
March 09 · Greg SchuckWent for a spur of the moment wknd trip. We enjoyed our space. Had a nice view of the lake. Place was clean. Needed an upgrade on the showers and bathrooms.
May 10 · Wendi NesbittLevel and paved sites with electric and water. We had a 25' motorhome and there was plenty of electricity for hair dryer and microwave. Plus, all sites have covered picnic tables, BBQ grill, and a fire pit. We had a great stay and would return.
February 24 · Michael SchackwitzUsed this as base camp to go hunting nearby. Very quiet and clean. No one was there to help or answer any questions. The booth was empty the whole day. Full hook ups for RV solid shelter for every campsite, and fire pit & grill. All have views of Granger lake. I would definitely come back because fish were jumping all day and night. Bring a fishing pole. This does not have primitive camping. If you want primitive go to fix bottom near by.
