Willard Bay South Marina Campground Introduce
For those of us in Utah who live for summer days on the water, Willard Bay South Marina Campground offers a prime destination right in our backyard. As a part of the larger Willard Bay State Park, this campground provides a practical and enjoyable base camp for all your aquatic adventures. While it may not be the most remote wilderness retreat, it excels at providing convenience and essential amenities for both RV and tent campers. It’s the perfect spot to test out a new trailer, enjoy a weekend of boating and fishing, or simply relax by the water's edge. This campground strikes a great balance, providing a modern, functional space that still connects you with the natural beauty of Willard Bay.
The layout and design of the South Marina Campground are optimized for accessibility and convenience. With a large parking lot-style layout, the sites are easy to access, especially for large RVs. While some visitors have noted that the sites can feel a bit close together, the availability of full hookups—including electric, water, and sewer—is a major draw for RV campers. This is a significant advantage for those who want a hassle-free trip with all the comforts of home. The campground is also well-equipped with clean public restrooms and showers, which are a welcome sight after a long day of outdoor activities. The maintenance of these facilities is a point of pride and a key reason why many campers choose to return.
Willard Bay itself is the star of the show. With its warm, fresh water, it's a popular spot for a wide range of water sports, including boating, water skiing, paddleboarding, and fishing. The proximity of the campground to the water is a huge plus, although it's important to note that access to the lake can require a short walk over a wall and some rocks, which can be challenging with kayaks or small children. However, the opportunity to be so close to the water and enjoy the beautiful views, including stunning sunsets and the surrounding mountains, makes this a minor inconvenience for many. For anglers, the bay is known for its crappie, walleye, and catfish, making it a great destination for a fishing trip.
Beyond the water, the campground offers a variety of land-based activities. The "Good for kids" highlight means it's a great choice for families, with plenty of open space and opportunities for exploration. The "Kid-friendly hikes" are a great way to introduce young ones to the outdoors. For those with pets, the "Dogs allowed" policy, along with grassy areas, makes it a welcoming place for your four-legged companions. The presence of trees provides some welcome shade, which is a big benefit on hot summer days. While some reviews mention mosquitoes, particularly in warmer months, this is a common challenge for any lakeside campground and can be managed with proper repellent. Overall, Willard Bay South Marina Campground offers a compelling mix of practical amenities, beautiful scenery, and excellent recreational opportunities, making it a solid choice for a weekend getaway in Northern Utah.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We bought a new trailer, so we wanted to test everything out prior to going up into the mountains. Full hook up was great, but 60 a night was steep. Love all the birds singing!
June 11 · Christopher FrazeeSo many mosquitos! Campsites were. We were in the RV area but had 4 tents set up, too. Branches practically covered the ground. But with that, it was nice to have those trees for shades. To get to the water, it was a bit of a walk up to the wall and then down over the rocks. Made more difficult with kids or kayaks or paddle boards. Also found a Potato Beetle which was cool.
August 13 · John BurgoyneThe yellow lines they painted are nice but not everyone’s sewer hookup is the same. Good thing we had 3 spots and were able to encroach into the next spot. The sprinklers come on everyday and got water everywhere and got up under the canopies. The bathrooms were dirty and the showers were DISGUSTING!!! They look like they haven’t been cleaned in months Bugs were bad just like all the other reviews said they were
September 01 · Tristen AllredNot sure why they had a camp host, never saw them once in the campground from Friday-Monday. Not once did they clean restrooms and the showers looked liked they hadn't been cleaned in months as there is garbage everywhere, I didn't even dare go inside. The water came on drenching nearby campers and was on wasting water for at least an hour each spot daily, and the tents had to be moved to the pavement. We literally had to clean the tables before we could use them,we sprayed and washed them down, had to clean up branches and luckily my brother had his leaf blower. The spots aren't properly marked and our trailer in order to hook up to water, sewer, and electrical had to be in my brother's spot. Worst state park we've ever stayed at. The bugs were ridiculous and we've tried everything we had. They should be paying us to stay here and clean what we had to in order to make it somewhat enjoyable. Will not be staying here again!!!
September 01 · Megan AllredWe.lovr camping here, except the restrooms are always dirty and full of trash. The tables are full of spider webs as if they're never cleaned, and they also had the sprinklers on for over an hour.Other than that, there are big beauties trees, lots of space for the kids to play and it's close to he water for boats.
