Wild Cat Camping and Fishing is conveniently located at 1076 Sloane Br, Flatgap, KY 41219, USA. Tucked away down a beautiful, curvy stretch of Route 201, the journey to the campground itself is part of the charm, offering picturesque views of the Appalachian Mountains. While the location provides a wonderful sense of seclusion and natural beauty, it's also remarkably accessible for residents across Kentucky. For those living in Eastern Kentucky, it’s a short and scenic drive, making it perfect for weekend getaways or longer stays.
Despite its "holler within a holler" description, the campground is only about 10-12 miles from Paintsville, a larger town where visitors can find groceries at Walmart and various dining options. This proximity ensures that while you feel immersed in nature, essential services are never too far away. The roads leading to Wild Cat Camping and Fishing are manageable, even for larger RVs, though some curves are to be expected given the mountainous terrain. For those relying on mobile data, it's worth noting that AT&T service can be spotty in these Appalachian Mountains, as mentioned by a past visitor. However, Wild Cat Camping and Fishing understands this and provides reliable Wi-Fi at the campground, ensuring you can stay connected if needed. This thoughtful amenity is a significant convenience for modern campers. The owners, Johnny and Regina, are also known for their responsiveness, making it easy to get in touch and plan your visit.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I'm a travel nurse that was looking for a place to park my RV and Johnny at Wild Cat is the ONLY one that returned my calls this past summer. Wild Cat is what I lovingly describe as "a holler within a holler". It's down a curvy stretch of 201 that's just beautiful to look at. If you have AT&T though, those Appalachian Mountains are going to give you grief. People get hold of me on fb messenger, telegram and WhatsApp. Wifi is provided at the campground. Johnny and his wife Regina are just the kindest people and it's been a blessing to stay there. It's been quiet, even when it's been full. I'm a nightshifter and I've never had a problem resting. If you like country music, you're not far from the birthplace of Loretta Lynn and Ricky Sage's, among others. Lots of history close by too and you can do day trips to Huntington and Charleston, WV. If I return to the area, I'd definitely check with Wild Cat for availability first!
November 25 · Missy HuffmanWe've been here for a little over a month. Very well kept grounds. Johnny and Regina are the best, very kind and caring people. Full hookups, picnic table and fire ring. Restroom and store on site. No laundry or shower. Very nice paylake with shelters all around. Game room, horseshoes, playground, community picnic area all on site. I have fished several times. Some nights I get several, some nights I get skunked. That's why they call it fishing and not catching. Farm fish stocked every week. There are also blues and flathead. Very family oriented. They also have campers they rent out. I would recommend Wild Cat to anyone whether for camping or fishing. Thank you guys for providing such an awesome experience.
June 02 · Paul MWildcat is the place to go to relax and fish with the family. There is a playground for the kids and a sandbox as well. There is a baitshop with hot food and cold drinks and plenty of bait. I have been going there for 10 plus years. The owners are great people, too.
May 19 · Kevin KiddJohn and Regina are wonderful owners. The campground is family oriented with Fishing available. Wonderful playground for the kids. It is a smaller campground but if you are able to stay the weekend, I highly recommend it.
April 11 · Jason BentleyVery nice place to fish that is family oriented. Clean place to fish... they keep the lake clean, all old bait and all garbage picked up, bathrooms are super clean. Owners are so friendly, couldn't ask for better people, treats us like family.
