This charming campground offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the stunning natural beauty of our state, providing a more rugged and independent camping experience that many Coloradans cherish. Whether you're a seasoned RVer or just looking for a peaceful retreat under the vast Colorado sky, White Star Campground is a destination worth exploring.
White Star Campground stands out for its commitment to providing a genuine outdoor experience. Unlike many highly developed campgrounds, White Star embraces a more minimalist approach, allowing campers to truly connect with their surroundings. This focus on simplicity and nature is a key reason why it's so popular among those who appreciate the untouched beauty of Colorado's wilderness. Its appeal lies in its ability to offer a tranquil setting, far from the hustle and bustle, where the only sounds you hear are those of nature.
The campground’s reputation for providing large, accommodating spots for rigs makes it a favorite among the RV and boondocking community. For many, finding a spacious site where you can truly spread out and enjoy your surroundings is paramount, and White Star delivers on this front. While it’s important to note the more rustic amenities, the overall experience of being able to comfortably set up your home-on-wheels amidst such breathtaking scenery is truly unparalleled. It’s the kind of place where you can unwind, explore, and create lasting memories with family and friends, all within the magnificent backdrop of the Colorado Rockies.

While the campground provides a secluded feel, it remains accessible for various types of vehicles. Being in Twin Lakes means you're not too far off the beaten path, yet you're deep enough into the mountains to feel truly immersed in nature. White Star Campground Reviews
Great spot if you’re looking for a Boondocking location with large spots for your rig. Some of the spots did not have shade from trees, which made it very hot under the direct sun. Another big con was that there are no water hookups/refill or sewage dumps. Our party filled up at Leadville Sanitation. The latrines were very clean and the hosts were friendly.

Jun 12, 2025 · Rich Mock4 stars because the dump station was closed. Great campground will definitely be back!Beautiful views, good size sites. It's quite large so you need to drive to the lake.Pretty crazy we had rain in the forecast the entire time and it only drizzled twice!! The lake is flat as can be and great for sup.Internet reception is great! Not that this is important when camping, but it was during the week and I was able to get work done which is nice when your a business owner
Aug 15, 2024 · Katie BurgoyneCampground with a beautiful view. We were lucky enough to get one of the best camp site there. We had a view of both lake and mountain from our tent. Around 5mins walk to the lake. There’s also kayaks and paddle boats for rent in the lake. But, be careful of the weather and high winds before going to the lake for water activities. It was really windy when we were there and we had to rescue a lady and a body who were struggling to get back to shore on their paddle boats due to high winds. And yes, they had the cleanest restrooms 👍
