Location and Accessibility
Waubonsie State Park Campground is conveniently located at 2585 Waubonsie Park Rd, Hamburg, IA 51640, USA. This address places it prominently in the southwestern corner of Iowa, offering breathtaking views of the unique Loess Hills and the expansive Missouri River Valley. For us Iowans, this location is particularly special as the Loess Hills are a rare landform, found predominantly only along the Missouri River in Iowa and Missouri, making Waubonsie State Park a truly distinctive natural attraction.
The park is easily accessible, approximately 9 miles south of Hamburg and 6 miles north of Sidney, a town famous for hosting Iowa's largest continuous outdoor rodeo in July. From larger cities like Omaha, Nebraska City (across the Missouri River in Nebraska), and even Des Moines, Waubonsie State Park is a manageable drive, making it a perfect destination for a weekend escape or a longer vacation for residents across the state.
The park's infrastructure, including well-kept roads leading to the campground, ensures smooth access for RVs and vehicles of all sizes. Once there, the "miles of trails" and diverse amenities are readily accessible, allowing visitors to quickly immerse themselves in the park's offerings. This combination of a unique geographical setting and convenient access makes Waubonsie State Park Campground an ideal spot for locals looking to explore one of Iowa's most remarkable natural treasures.

Waubonsie St Park Campground Reviews
Had an excellent time! It's quiet, the bathroom is clean, saw Orioles, and it's a beautiful park! The only thing that might deter one is the raccoons make noise opening trash bins all night! Once you know it's them and you keep your site tidy, it's enjoyable!!
May 29, 2025 · Victoria Lawrence-BurroughsMiles of trails. Most are well kept. Spacious tent camping. RV area available. Cabins available. Wood on site for purchase. Nice shower house. Disc golf.
Jul 08, 2023 · Rosanne ThompsonI liked the campground here. Lots of shade trees. Bathrooms were clean and looked cared after. Seemed to be lots of raccoons at night getting into the dumpsters though, which is too bad to have the wildlife keyed in on that. Enjoyed the hiking trails as well.
Jun 24, 2022 · Darrin OchsnerNice and quiet camping spot. RV spots are gravel, so not exactly level. But it was very quiet and nestled back in the woods. Nice little jewel in the Loess hills.
