Warm Slough Campsite

Campground ★4.0

Unnamed Road #83440, Rexburg, ID 83440, USA

4.0
Really nice campground with decently spaced out campsites. Beautiful spot right along the river. During the day lots of cars come and go as people float the river but it’s pretty quiet at night. The only downside is that the bathroom is absolutely horrendous! Bags of poop cover the floor and it looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in months. - Angie Coleman

Warm Slough Campsite Introduce

Introduction / Overview

Warm Slough Campsite is a popular local spot that embodies the natural, rugged beauty of Idaho. Located near Rexburg, this no-frills camping area is a beloved destination for those who appreciate the simple pleasures of the outdoors. It is situated directly on the Henry's Fork of the Snake River, a feature that makes it a true highlight for water enthusiasts. The area is known for its slow-moving, shallow water, which creates a perfect environment for a relaxing day of floating, swimming, or fishing. Unlike large, managed campgrounds, Warm Slough offers a more rustic and open experience, with generously spaced-out campsites that provide a sense of privacy. It’s a place where you can truly disconnect from the digital world and immerse yourself in the natural landscape. The atmosphere is generally laid-back and family-friendly, making it a great place to bring kids and even your furry friends, as dogs are allowed. The campground’s simple amenities and focus on natural recreation appeal to a wide range of visitors, from families seeking a quiet picnic spot to adventurers looking for a base camp for their river activities. Its popularity, especially on warm days and weekends, is a testament to its charm and the unique recreational opportunities it offers right in the heart of southeastern Idaho.

Location and Accessibility

The Warm Slough Campsite is conveniently located near Rexburg, Idaho, and its address is listed as Unnamed Road #83440, Rexburg, ID 83440, USA. The on-site parking is a significant plus, allowing visitors to park their vehicles conveniently near their chosen campsite. This accessibility is a key factor in its popularity for day-use activities like floating the river, as it's easy to get to and from the water. The campsite is part of a larger access site managed by the Idaho Fish and Game, so it’s important to note that the site has specific regulations regarding camping, including a day-use only rule from February 1st through September 30th and a limited 10-day camping period during the rest of the year. This makes it an ideal spot for a quick escape or a planned off-season trip, rather than a long-term summer stay.

What is Worth Choosing

Warm Slough Campsite is worth choosing for its authentic Idaho outdoor experience. The number one reason to visit is its incredible access to the Henry's Fork of the Snake River. This isn't just a place near a river; it's a place designed to be enjoyed on the river. The gentle, winding slough provides a unique "lazy river" experience that is perfect for all ages, from kids splashing in the shallow spots to adults leisurely floating on tubes or kayaks. This specific feature sets it apart from many other campgrounds in the region. The ability to park your car and take a relaxing one-hour float that brings you back close to your starting point is a major highlight. For those who love picnics, the on-site picnic tables and beautiful scenery make it a fantastic day-use spot. The fact that it is a free or low-cost campground further adds to its appeal, offering an affordable way to enjoy one of Idaho's beautiful natural resources. While the amenities are simple, they provide the essentials for a comfortable stay—a place to pitch a tent, a spot to picnic, and running water. The rustic nature of the site, including the known issues with restroom cleanliness, is a trade-off for its natural beauty and a peaceful, non-commercialized setting. For an Idaho local, or a visitor seeking a genuine taste of the region's outdoor culture, Warm Slough Campsite offers a truly memorable and stress-free way to enjoy the great outdoors, especially if you're looking to spend a day on the water. It’s a hidden gem that prioritizes the experience of nature over unnecessary frills.
