The feeling of leaving civilization behind as you drive deeper into the forest is a core part of the Valentine Ridge experience. It's a place that rewards those who are willing to venture a little off the beaten path to find peace and natural beauty.
Valentine Ridge Campground offers a selection of services and amenities to ensure a comfortable stay while maintaining a rustic feel.
- Public restroom: The campground provides access to a public restroom, which is a significant convenience for campers, especially for those tent camping or with children. This amenity helps make the outdoor experience more comfortable and family-friendly.
- Tent sites: The primary offering at Valentine Ridge is tent camping. The sites are designed to accommodate tents and provide a classic camping setup. This focus on tent sites reinforces the campground's commitment to a traditional, back-to-nature experience.
- On-site parking: Each campsite is equipped with on-site parking, allowing campers to park their vehicles conveniently next to their site. This makes unloading gear and setting up camp much easier, adding to the overall convenience.
A key point noted in a customer review is the lack of a toilet. This is an important detail for campers to be aware of and should be confirmed before visiting. The discrepancy in reviews (one mentioning a public restroom, another noting no toilet) could be due to seasonal changes, a misunderstanding, or a change in a specific area of the campground. It is always best to call ahead to the phone numbers provided to verify current amenities. Campers should also be prepared to be self-sufficient and practice Leave No Trace principles, including packing out all trash.
The campground has several features and highlights that make it a compelling choice for campers in Arizona.
- Secluded atmosphere: The most prominent feature is its seclusion. As one reviewer noted, it is a "secluded campground with great views." This sense of privacy is highly valued by many campers seeking a quiet retreat away from crowded, commercialized sites.
- Great views: The scenic beauty is a major draw. The surrounding landscape offers fantastic views of the ridge and forest, providing a beautiful setting for all outdoor activities. Waking up to these views is an unforgettable part of the experience.
- Nearby creek: The campground is just a few minutes away from a creek, as mentioned in a customer review. This is a wonderful highlight, offering opportunities for wading, fishing (where permitted), and simply enjoying the soothing sound of running water. The creek adds a special element to the natural environment and is a great spot for kids to play.
- Good for kids: The campground is noted as being good for kids. The natural environment provides a perfect playground for children to explore, learn about nature, and enjoy outdoor activities. The presence of a creek and plenty of open space makes it an excellent choice for a family adventure.
- Campsite proximity: One customer review noted that the camping spots are "too close together." While one review praises seclusion, this indicates that some specific spots might be closer than others, or that the experience can vary depending on where you set up camp. This is a good piece of information for campers to keep in mind, and arriving early may help secure a more private spot.
The natural features, such as the creek and the views, are what make this campground truly special. It is a place that encourages exploration and outdoor recreation, whether it's hiking, bird watching, or simply relaxing by the water. The balance between being family-friendly and secluded is a unique attribute of Valentine Ridge.

The creek is just a few minutes away, secluded campground with great views
July 17 · Bret BiermanNo toilet, take your trash out. Camping spots imo are too close together.
June 12 · Andy MI'm torn on if I want to mark to give a five only because I want to keep this amazing gem of a campground to myself. The drive in while a little nerve racking for me due to the steep drop is beautiful. Be sure to bring enough water and a roll of TP as they only service offered is 1 vault toilet for all 6 campsites and they ran out of time paper in 1 night. The sites are very spacious and you could fit multiple tents on most if you wanted to. They views are to die for and the absolute silence at night is fantastic. The fact that it's tricky getting to and everyone was in tents added to the perfect camp trip as there were no generators.
October 13 · S CQuiet, secluded, has spectacular views. Quickest way in is 6 miles south on Young highway, exit left, and straight on the dirt road for ~10mins until the campground is visible. 10/10 would camp here again
August 01 · Ryan FrantzMade mistake of going during a snow storm and got stuck on the way out. The area itself was beautiful, though!
