Tyee Campground Introduce
For those of us in Oregon who truly appreciate the raw, untamed beauty of our state's wilderness, there are certain spots that stand out as quintessential experiences. Tyee Campground is one such place. Tucked away on a "Wild and Scenic" section of an Oregon river, it represents a purer form of camping – remote, undeveloped, and deeply connected to nature. If you're an Oregonian with a love for river adventures, quiet nights under the stars, and embracing a more rustic outdoor experience, Tyee Campground offers a unique opportunity to truly disconnect and immerse yourself in the natural world.
Tyee Campground isn't your typical drive-in campground with paved sites and extensive amenities. Instead, it embodies the spirit of genuine outdoor exploration. Situated on a pristine stretch of river, it's primarily accessed by those enjoying float trips. This means a more tranquil environment, far from the noise and distractions of developed areas. It’s a place where river etiquette is paramount, respecting both the environment and fellow adventurers. Imagine pulling your raft or kayak onto a flat beach, the sound of the river gently flowing by, and the promise of a peaceful night. This is what Tyee Campground delivers.
This bar (referring to the river bar where camping occurs) serves as an ideal rest stop between thrilling rapids, offering a perfect blend of excitement and serenity. Depending on your put-in point and timing, Tyee Campground can become a wonderfully quiet overnight spot, perfect for cooking a meal over a camp stove and unwinding after a day on the water. The surrounding environment is pristine, encouraging campers to embrace a Leave No Trace philosophy, ensuring the continued beauty of this special area for all who visit. It’s a testament to Oregon’s commitment to preserving its wild spaces, providing us with incredible opportunities to experience nature in its purest form.
Tyee Campground's location is a key part of its allure: Oregon, USA, specifically along a "Wild and Scenic" designated river section. While a precise street address like a typical campground isn't applicable, its identity is intrinsically linked to the river it borders. This designation as "Wild and Scenic" means the area is protected for its outstandingly remarkable scenic, recreational, geologic, fish and wildlife, historic, cultural, or other similar values. This protection ensures that the natural character of Tyee Campground remains largely untouched, offering an authentic wilderness experience.
Accessibility to Tyee Campground is primarily by water. For Oregonians planning a multi-day float trip down the river, Tyee serves as a crucial and convenient stopover. This means that access typically involves navigating rapids and floating to the designated river bar. While this might sound daunting to some, for experienced river enthusiasts, it’s part of the adventure. The remote nature ensures a quieter experience, free from vehicle noise and large crowds. It’s important for visitors to be self-sufficient and prepared for an undeveloped camping experience. This means packing out everything you pack in, being mindful of fire restrictions, and understanding that emergency services might be delayed due to the remote location. However, for those seeking to truly disconnect and embrace the solitude of Oregon's riverways, the journey to Tyee Campground is an integral part of the rewarding experience.

Tyee Campground Reviews
On the Wild and Scenic part of the river, so its all remote, un-improved camping. Remember your river etiquette, and enjoy your float. This bar is a nice rest between some rapids, and depending on when and where you put in can be a quite night spot to cook and rest. A nice stream waterfall just down the river from here with a good sized pool.
Jul 04, 2022 · Ro HermsNot a lot of shade in this campground, but a nice flat beach makes light work for setting up camp and a kitchen. There are at least two good spots to hang a hammock up the hill, and plenty of flat spots for cots & sleeping pads, as well as tents if you need them.
