For many campers, the ideal experience involves a peaceful setting, ample space, and opportunities for recreation. Town & Country Lakes aims to provide these elements, with a particular emphasis on offering spacious sites and access to fishing. This combination can create a relaxing environment where visitors can unwind, enjoy the outdoors, and perhaps even reel in a catch of the day. The appeal of a campground often lies in its ability to cater to a desire for both solitude and engaging activities, and Town & Country Lakes seems to strike this balance for many of its guests.
The term "quaint" often comes to mind when describing Town & Country Lakes, suggesting a charm that comes from its smaller size and intimate setting. With a limited number of spots, typically around 20, the campground can offer a more personalized and less crowded experience compared to larger, more commercial establishments. This can be a significant advantage for those who prefer a quieter atmosphere and a stronger sense of community among fellow campers. The emphasis on spacious sites means that even with neighbors, there's still plenty of room to spread out and enjoy your private space.
For full-time campers or those with extended stays in mind due to work or other commitments, finding a comfortable and welcoming long-term option is crucial. Town & Country Lakes has received positive feedback from individuals who have made it their temporary home, citing fair prices and a satisfying overall experience. This indicates its suitability not just for short-term recreational visits but also for those requiring a more stable base for an extended period. The blend of a peaceful environment and practical amenities makes it a viable choice for diverse camping needs.
The presence of a lake and surrounding cornfields contributes significantly to the campground's ambiance, offering both privacy and scenic views. This natural backdrop enhances the sense of being truly away from it all, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the quiet beauty of the Illinois landscape. Whether it's enjoying a morning coffee by the water, casting a line, or simply taking in the rural scenery, these natural features are key to the experience at Town & Country Lakes. The opportunity for fishing adds another layer of enjoyment, appealing to anglers of all skill levels.
However, it's also important to consider varying perspectives. Some experiences may highlight areas for improvement, such as the condition of certain facilities or the immediate surroundings of tent sites. This underscores the importance of aligning individual expectations with the campground's offerings. While some campers may value spacious RV sites and a quiet environment above all else, others might prioritize modern amenities or a more consistently pristine environment. Therefore, understanding these different facets is key to a well-informed decision about your stay at Town & Country Lakes.

- Spacious camping spots, suitable for RVs.
- Plenty of room for parking.
- Fishing opportunities (in the lake).
Town & Country Lakes focuses on providing fundamental services essential for a comfortable camping experience, particularly for RVers. The highlight among its offerings is the provision of spacious camping spots. This feature is consistently praised by satisfied visitors, emphasizing ample room for their RVs and additional space for parking. This generosity of space is a significant draw, allowing campers to set up comfortably and enjoy their surroundings without feeling cramped or overly close to their neighbors.
A key recreational service offered is fishing. The presence of a lake within the campground allows visitors to engage in this popular outdoor activity directly on-site. For many campers, the opportunity to fish adds significant value to their stay, providing a relaxing pastime and a chance to enjoy the natural environment. While the specific types of fish or fishing regulations are not detailed in the provided information, the mere availability of fishing is a notable amenity.
It's important to note that based on a differing review, there may be perceptions regarding the lake's condition or proximity to septic systems, which could impact some visitors' willingness to fish or consume caught fish. Potential visitors might consider inquiring about current conditions if this is a primary concern for their stay.
Beyond these core offerings, the campground appears to emphasize a simpler, more laid-back approach to amenities, focusing on the fundamental needs of campers rather than extensive recreational facilities. This can appeal to those who prefer a less commercialized camping experience and value space and quiet above all else.
- Quaint atmosphere with approximately 20 spots.
- Spacious and wonderful individual camping spots.
- Plenty of privacy provided by the lake and cornfields.
- Opportunities for fishing on-site.
- Fair prices for both short-term and long-term stays.
- Quiet environment.
The most consistently lauded feature of Town & Country Lakes is its exceptionally spacious camping spots. This stands out as a significant highlight, with positive reviews emphasizing that each spot offers ample room, not just for the RV but also for additional parking and personal space. This generosity of space is a rarity in many campgrounds and contributes significantly to a comfortable and uncrowded experience.
The quaint atmosphere, attributed to its smaller size of roughly 20 spots, is another major draw. This limited capacity fosters a more intimate and peaceful environment, appealing to campers who prefer a less bustling and more serene setting. It allows for a sense of community among guests while still ensuring personal privacy.
The natural surroundings, particularly the lake and surrounding cornfields, are integral to the campground's appeal. These features not only provide scenic views but also contribute significantly to the sense of privacy at each site. The presence of the lake further enhances the experience by offering on-site fishing, a popular recreational activity that adds another layer of enjoyment for visitors.
Furthermore, the campground is noted for offering fair prices, making it an attractive option for both short weekend getaways and extended stays. This affordability, combined with the spacious sites and peaceful environment, makes Town & Country Lakes a compelling choice for a wide range of campers.
However, it is worth acknowledging a contrasting review that highlights concerns regarding an outdated playground, small tent sites, proximity of tent sites to a septic tank resulting in odor, and a less than ideal experience with management, including perceived unprofessional conduct and issues with noise from other "full-time" residents. These points suggest that experiences can vary and potential visitors, particularly tent campers or those sensitive to noise and certain environmental factors, might consider these aspects when making their decision. The reviews collectively suggest that while RV sites may offer a good experience for some, other aspects of the campground might not suit everyone's preferences.

Town & Country Lakes Reviews
Could not be happier with this campground, it's quaint I believe there are about 20 spots. Every spot is wonderful and spacious! And plenty of room for parking as well. We just got here a couple of days ago. But have been full time camping for almost 4 years now because of my husband's job as a contractor. So far this is the best campground we have been too. The lake and corn fields provide plenty of privacy and on top of it all there is fishing! If you're looking for a weekend getaway or something long term, the prices are very fair and you won't be disappointed!
Aug 01, 2022 · Kerri Jo SweeneyI was there with my family for Memorial Day weekend. The playground was outdated and had sharp splinters. The tent sights were practically nothing in size and were either on a slope or so close to the septic tank where the campers dumped that you could smell it constantly. And with that being said I wanted to teach my children how to clean the fish you catch and fry them in cast iron over a fire but with the septic system being only feet from the pond they call a lake and I wasn't going to eat anything that came from that water. It's more like a cult of people that seem to stay there year around. I could hear some speed limit princess yelling at every other vehicle. I tried to talk to the woman who was running this joke of a campground but her inability to speak properly or even walk straight told me all I needed to know, We packed up and left before actually staying one night.Save your time and money. Avoid the fecal matter campground with the "slow down!" Police screaming every 20 minutes and the drunk warden coming out of her flip flops and wiping slobber from the corner of her mouth smelling of alcohol and not caring about the place.STICK WITH A KOA
Jun 07, 2025 · Dally GreenNice people running the place. Very quiet and friendly neighbors. Pond was free to fish in with the stay and the kids loved it. No sewer hookups but for $20 a week someone will come drain it for you. Would definitely return. We stayed for over a month.
Aug 04, 2024 · Courtney RiddleCame to check it out. Not a terrible park for 500$ a month however i think a few things could be improved. For starters the entrance to the park is very narrow and you have a tight turn which could be problematic for bigger rigs they could easily widen it. and the roads are very hilly to the park. The park does not have sewage hook up at the any of the spots. There is a communal dump station and if you dont want to move your rig then they come by with a shit barrel to collect every week which is unsanitary as the residents just leave the hoses out and exposed waiting for dump day and each time its 20$ for them to hall your shit away. I think it should be included sense it was obviously poor planning. Other than that its next to a decent looking lake and large field so mice could be a problem. The enviroment the residents gave off was welcoming and friendly. Id considered staying here if it werent for the tight turn and the sewage. Those are deal breakers.
Nov 09, 2024 · William CookNice peaceful Campground a lot of fish but the dump station was full so no place to dump your RVs
