Thompson's Lake Campground Reviews
Clean restrooms. Camping spots are tightly packed. Very small beach. Hard to get access to the lake for fishing. Overall okay experience. I would t say I will repeat
Jun 12, 2025 · Gayan WijewardanaWe had a terrific weekend even though it had to be spoiled by rain. The campground is extremely clean and the bathrooms are Immaculate and fully stocked and also very clean! It's been a tradition to come here every October to experience halloween. All the people around us we're awesome and we loved looking at all the different pumpkins and decorations. Love all the hiking trails and also Thatcher's Park of course. I want to give a shout out to Diane the supervisor. We had the pleasure of meeting her during a bonfire they were having on the beach with storytelling. She gave us some history of the park and also told us about all the fun things that they've been trying to establish to get people coming in. They have a Halloween event in August that I would love to attend. This is a great place for kids to ride their bikes or play on the awesome playground, or even exploring the woods and there is also a nature center a short walk away.
Oct 14, 2024 · Kelleah MoonThis is our family's go to state park because it is closest to Albany. The park itself can use major updates. But the bathrooms are good. The playgrounds could be better. It would be awesome to see electric sites one day. It's mostly RVs and the generators all day are annoying. The campsites are also not the cleanest. So there's always leftover trash from other people. It's a busy campsite. The beach is ok but it'd be great to have more space or a dock or something. There are a lot of good trails around the campground and the cities aren't far.
Jul 12, 2024 · Cher SchneiderIf you already paid the entrance fee for Thatcher, you can get in here for free. The campground is actually pretty nice and they have a small little baseball diamond as well as nicely maintained facilities. I went to swim in the lake and although they have a small beach with a lifeguard, I wasn’t a huge fan of the lake water (I spend more time swimming in creeks and freshwater streams). If you get in for free, it’s probably worth checking out. I wouldn’t pay money just to go swimming in the lake as there are some better places around. However, the campground does look very nice and it wouldn’t be a bad place to camp for a night or two. A lot of people were having fun and the place has a good vibe.
Jun 03, 2024 · Adam HGreat staff & extremely well kept State Park! Beautiful beach & campsites are clean and cozy with fire pit and picnic table. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained. Security is visible with "spot checks" continually on going! Thanks for the beautiful facility!
