It has a nice and clean public kitchen and sink which makes cooking and washing dishes way easier. The RV spaces are not crowded and everyone has a nice big area for their camp. I didn’t see any staff onsite while I was there. Good choice if you quiet, clean camp ground. 5 mins walk to the beach from private access path. Almost every RV campers I met during my stay has dogs (including ourselves). - Jessica K

The Lamp Camp Introduce

For Washingtonians dreaming of a peaceful coastal escape where the Pacific Ocean is just a short stroll away, The Lamp Camp in Long Beach, WA, offers a truly distinctive camping experience. This is not your typical bustling, crowded RV park; instead, The Lamp Camp prides itself on providing a quiet, clean, and community-oriented environment, perfect for those who seek tranquility and a genuine connection with nature and fellow campers. Located on the beautiful Long Beach Peninsula, it offers a refreshing alternative for RV travelers, vanlifers, and traditional tent campers looking for a serene base to explore Washington's stunning coastline.

The Lamp Camp stands out with its commitment to thoughtful design and shared spaces, encouraging relaxation and new friendships. Its blend of essential amenities with a focus on natural integration makes it a compelling choice for locals eager to unwind by the sea. While some operational aspects have drawn feedback from past visitors, the core promise of a spacious, clean, and quiet setting remains a strong draw. Let's explore what makes The Lamp Camp a notable option for your next Washington outdoor adventure.

Location and Accessibility

The Lamp Camp is conveniently situated at 15301 Pacific Way, Long Beach, WA 98631, USA, placing it directly on the celebrated Long Beach Peninsula in Washington State. This prime location offers excellent accessibility for residents throughout Washington and neighboring states.

For those traveling from major population centers like Seattle or Tacoma, the journey typically involves a scenic drive south on I-5, followed by a westward route towards the coast, often connecting with US-101 and then State Route 103, which runs through Long Beach. From Portland, Oregon, it's a straightforward drive north on US-101. The park's address on Pacific Way means it's easily locatable within Long Beach, providing simple navigation upon arrival.

One of the most significant highlights of The Lamp Camp's location is its direct and private access to the beach. A short, approximately 5-minute (or 400 yards) walk via a private access path leads campers directly to the expansive sandy shores of the Pacific Ocean. This immediate proximity to the beach is a major draw, allowing guests to enjoy leisurely strolls, kite flying, clam digging (in season), and stunning sunsets without the need for driving or finding public parking. The campground's position on the peninsula also offers easy access to other local attractions, including lighthouses, the Discovery Trail for biking, various museums, and charming local eateries, making it an ideal hub for exploring the entire region.

Services Offered

  • Spacious Campsites: RV spaces are noted for being uncrowded, with "everyone has a nice big area for their camp," providing a sense of personal space.
  • Public Kitchen and Sink: A major highlight is the "nice and clean public kitchen and sink," which significantly simplifies cooking and dishwashing for campers. It includes two gas grills and a wood-fired oven.
  • Newly Renovated Restrooms with Hot Showers: The restrooms are described as "newly renovated," "clean," and providing "hot showers." They are reportedly deep cleaned multiple times daily (though some reviews suggest this is not always consistent if staff are not visible).
  • Private Dune Path to Beach Access: A dedicated private path provides direct access to the beach, just a 5-minute walk away.
  • Community Clubhouse: A clubhouse with a fireplace, game corner, and lending library offers a cozy shared space for relaxation and socializing. However, it may sometimes be used for storage during renovations.

Features / Highlights

  • Quiet and Uncrowded Atmosphere: A consistent highlight is the campground's quiet nature and spacious sites, ensuring campers are "not surrounded by tons of people" and have "a nice big area for their camp."
  • Excellent Community Kitchen and Sink: This facility is frequently praised for its cleanliness and convenience, making cooking and dishwashing much easier for all campers. The presence of gas grills and a wood-fired oven adds to its utility.
  • Private and Close Beach Access: The "private access path" leading to the beach in just "5 mins walk" (or 400 yards) is a significant advantage, offering unparalleled convenience to the Long Beach shoreline.
  • Dog-Friendly Environment: The high proportion of dog owners among guests, coupled with a clear pet policy, indicates a welcoming atmosphere for furry companions, which is a major plus for many Washingtonian families.
  • No Long-Term RVs: This feature ensures a consistent turnover of guests, maintaining a fresh and vacation-oriented atmosphere, rather than feeling like a residential park.
  • Renovated Facilities: The "newly renovated restrooms" and clubhouse indicate an ongoing commitment to improving guest experience, although the timing of renovations during peak season has been a point of feedback.
  • Focus on Community: The design with shared spaces like the clubhouse and community fire pits aims to foster a sense of community among campers.

While positive attributes are numerous, some visitors have noted areas for improvement, such as inconsistent staffing presence, leading to concerns about bathroom cleanliness frequency, and issues with site map accuracy vs. actual site size. Pricing being perceived as "too much" for some, combined with empty spots when online booking shows full, also indicates potential management efficiency challenges. However, the fundamental offerings of quiet, space, and beach access often outweigh these concerns for many.

Its prime location in Long Beach, directly on the Pacific Way, provides incredibly convenient access to the beach via a private path—a huge advantage for those who want to spend their days with sand between their toes. This accessibility makes it a perfect weekend getaway or longer vacation spot for residents from across the state, particularly those in Western Washington.

The core strengths of The Lamp Camp resonate deeply with what many local campers value: a "quiet, clean camp ground" with "not crowded" RV spaces and "a nice big area for their camp." In an era where many campgrounds can feel cramped and noisy, the spaciousness and peaceful ambiance of The Lamp Camp are significant draws. The shared "nice and clean public kitchen and sink" is a practical, community-enhancing amenity that simplifies camp cooking, a feature particularly appreciated by families or groups.

The fact that "almost every RV campers I met during my stay has dogs (including ourselves)" underscores its welcoming nature for pet owners, aligning with Washington's generally dog-friendly culture. The absence of long-term RVs ensures a consistent flow of recreational campers, maintaining a lively yet respectful atmosphere. While reviews highlight areas where management could "step it up," such as timing of renovations or staff visibility, the fundamental positive attributes—spacious sites, excellent communal kitchen, and unparalleled beach access—make it a highly suitable choice.

Despite some criticisms regarding pricing or management presence, the inherent value of a spacious, quiet, dog-friendly campground with private beach access in such a desirable location on the Long Beach Peninsula often outweighs these points for many. For Washington locals prioritizing peace, space, cleanliness, and direct access to the iconic Pacific Coast, The Lamp Camp provides an authentic and enjoyable base for their next outdoor adventure.
