The Backyard RV Resort Reviews
This place isn't really a "resort" in the typical sense. It's convenient to the interstate and check-in was a breeze. The sites are just a drive thru with no frills. It was fine for us because we were just stopping overnight. But there weren't any tables, fire pits, etc. I believe there was a communal area, but we didn't receive any papers at check in to tell us what was available. There were a lot of geese and their babies which was super cute. I'm giving it 4 stars because it served our needs, but if we had a bunch of kids, etc it wouldn't have been a good choice for us. Oh, and the area it was located at was a bit sketchy. Just be aware of your surroundings. The campground was packed so we felt safe.
May 24, 2025 · Jennifer GanyardIt's near an airport, so not super quiet. The sites are very close to one another and the showers were broken and not recently cleaned. Service was prompt and kind however and it is a convenient place to stay when passing through. There are a few neat amenities like a giant chess board and connect four with a nice sitting area, however the area is very swampy and the mosquitos are out in force so bring bug spray!
Jun 10, 2025 · Nutritious ApplesTraveling across country and found this gem! We accessed the park via westbound Hwy 80 and although traffic was heavy, there were plenty of stoplights to safely cross the eastbound lanes into the park. Arriving late afternoon on a Wednesday we found the new managers, Trish and Blake eager to help direct us to our pull-through site (#402 - crushed rock, level and 120' to accommodate our big rig plus long trailer). The utility connections were perfectly placed for easy access providing strong 50 amp service and although we did not use it, they offered complimentary wi-fi and cable TV connections. The amenities included a large bathhouse with ADA-accessible showers & toilets, fee-based washers & dryers, community "Grill Hub", concrete fire pit area with comfy Adirondack chairs, a large covered "Hangout" with (tall tables and even a TV) plus a catch & release lake! The other patrons appeared to be a mix of overnight travelers, families and extended stay RVers. After a peaceful nights rest, we awoke to birds chirping and the gentle hum of a distant train. Exiting the park to access Hwy 80 west appeared to be a challenge, however Trish & Blake directed us to take a right turn out of the park, a quick left turn into a large Circle K parking lot with large driveway access to westbound Hwy 80. Easy!!Looking forward to our next opportunity to enjoy all that this RV park has to offer!
Apr 25, 2025 · TNT HartungNot bad. Not in a great location, but we didn't have any problems either. A bunch of the fence has fallen down which gives a feeling of junky and lack of security. Inside the campground there is a cool hangout area with plenty of yard games for the family. We had fun. The manager was a bit abrupt when he saw us driving around. He didn't realize we were registered and was not welcoming. The lady in the office was a gem though. The bathrooms have different codes for men's and women's, good thinking. But they have us both codes, which we needed, so I'm not sure it really matters...?
Mar 06, 2025 · Dan FagundoBackyard has been a stopping place for the last 8 years. It is so convenient for us on our way to Gulf Shores and later Florida. It’s easy to exit 65 South or North and only minutes from the Interstate. Clean restrooms, laundry, plenty of water pressure, 30/50 amp service, WiFi, and cable tv. It’s moderately priced and well worth it. I give it a 10 out of 10.
