Terry Point Campground

4.0
This is a very poor place. It makes me sick that the pool there is full of nasty water and is a highly popular breeding ground for mosquitoes. The campsite is poorly managed. And the people that manage this site lack the ability to behave and treat their customers with kindness. It sickens me to think that somebody could own something like this Charge their customers and not provide service to them. Not to mention when I was there I noticed multiple code violations safety concerns electrical hazards. So if you are to visit this great place on Douglas lake Be fair warrant there are hazards at Terrie point Campground. If this campground was left up to me I would have it shut down for the multiple code violations poor management and absolutely Rude behavior of the management staff. - Heather Cook

Terry Point Campground Introduce

For Tennessee locals planning an outdoor escape, identifying a reliable and safe campground is paramount for a positive experience. This article provides essential and factual information regarding Terry Point Campground, located at 570 Terry Point Rd, Dandridge, TN 37725, USA. While the Dandridge area, situated on Douglas Lake, is generally renowned for its natural beauty and recreational opportunities, it is crucial for prospective visitors to be fully aware of recent and significant public feedback concerning the conditions and management of this specific site.

Based on multiple detailed public reviews, Terry Point Campground appears to be facing severe challenges in terms of maintenance, safety, and customer service. Reviewers describe the pool as "full of nasty water" and a "highly popular breeding ground for mosquitoes." The overall campsite is repeatedly cited as "poorly managed" and "covered with trash, junk cars, boats, old buses and buildings." Furthermore, serious allegations of "multiple code violations, safety concerns, electrical hazards," including "electrical wires run on top of the ground instead of being buried," have been made. Customer service is also highlighted as an issue, with management reportedly lacking the "ability to behave and treat their customers with kindness." These reports paint a concerning picture that is far from the expected standards of a well-maintained and welcoming camping environment.

This overview is intended solely to provide factual information based on publicly available data, allowing Tennessee locals to make informed decisions about their camping plans. While the intent of any campground is to offer a pleasant and secure experience, the current public reports strongly suggest that Terry Point Campground may not meet these fundamental expectations.

Terry Point Campground is situated at 570 Terry Point Rd, Dandridge, TN 37725, USA. This address places it on a point extending into Douglas Lake, a large and popular reservoir in East Tennessee. The area surrounding Dandridge is generally celebrated for its scenic beauty, offering picturesque lake views and proximity to various outdoor recreational activities, including fishing and boating.

For Tennessee residents, Dandridge is reasonably accessible. It is located just a short drive from Interstate 40 (take Exit 417), making it convenient for those traveling from major cities like Knoxville or Morristown. The drive to the campground along Terry Point Road is likely scenic, reflecting the natural beauty of the Douglas Lake region. Official descriptions mention its proximity to wildlife areas and within a short drive of many tourist attractions, including Sevierville, Pigeon Forge (home of Dollywood), Gatlinburg, and approximately 40 minutes from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

However, despite its potentially advantageous location on Douglas Lake and general regional accessibility, the significant concerns raised in public reviews severely impact the practical suitability of this specific campground. While geographically convenient, the reported conditions regarding safety, cleanliness, and infrastructure (e.g., exposed electrical wires, non-functional amenities, unsanitary facilities) suggest that the ease of access does not translate into a functional or safe camping experience at the present time. Therefore, while its location is noteworthy, the reported conditions override the benefit of accessibility for many potential visitors.

Based on the provided public reviews for Terry Point Campground at 570 Terry Point Rd, Dandridge, TN, it is evident that the expected "services offered" are reportedly either severely lacking, non-functional, or pose significant health and safety risks. Rather than listing operational services, it is critical to highlight the reported condition of these aspects:

  • Swimming Pool: Reviewers explicitly state the pool is "full of nasty water" and a "highly popular breeding ground for mosquitoes," and "hasn't worked in years and they won't fix it." This indicates a complete absence of a functional, safe, or sanitary swimming amenity.

  • Restroom/Bathhouse Facilities: Reports mention "bathrooms nasty no tp or soaps or paper towels," indicating a severe lack of cleanliness and basic provisions, rendering them largely unusable or unsanitary.

  • Electrical Hookups: A significant safety concern, it is reported that "Electrical wires run on top of the ground instead of being buried" and that "Power won't stay on." This highlights a dangerous and unreliable electrical service.

  • Water Supply: Concerns are raised that "water stinks and looks like lake water" and that "once the lake goes down u have no water," suggesting an unreliable and potentially unsanitary water supply.

  • General Cleanliness and Maintenance: The campground is described as "covered with trash, junk cars, boats, old buses and buildings everywhere," indicating a profound lack of waste management, upkeep, and general site cleanliness.

  • On-Site Restaurant/Snack Bar: Reviews state that the "Restraunt was closed down by health dpt." This means no on-site dining services are currently available, contrary to what might be expected from some older descriptions.

  • Playground: It is explicitly stated that there is "no playground," despite potentially being listed elsewhere, indicating a lack of this family-friendly amenity.

  • Management & Customer Service: Feedback points to "poorly managed" conditions and management staff who "lack the ability to behave and treat their customers with kindness," indicating a severe deficit in customer service and professional oversight.

Therefore, based on available public data, the services typically associated with a reputable campground are reportedly either absent, non-functional, or present significant health and safety hazards at Terry Point Campground.

Based on the provided public reviews for Terry Point Campground at 570 Terry Point Rd, Dandridge, TN, it is imperative to outline the reported conditions as critical "features" for potential visitors. These are not highlights in a positive sense but rather warnings about the environment one might encounter:

  • Severe Unsanitary Conditions: The campground is described as "completely trashed," "covered with trash, junk cars, boats, old buses and buildings everywhere." This indicates a pervasive issue with waste accumulation and a general lack of cleanliness across the property.

  • Unreliable Utilities: Reports of "Power won't stay on" and water issues when "the lake goes down u have no water" suggest highly unreliable and inadequate utility services for campers.

  • Aesthetic Deterioration: The visual description of the campground as looking like "a trash dump" with "junk cars, boats, old buses and buildings everywhere" implies a significantly degraded and unappealing aesthetic, far from a typical recreational setting.
