Swan's Falls Campground and Canoe Access

198 Swans Falls Rd, Fryeburg, ME 04037, USA

4.0
It's expensive, but other than that it's an outstanding state park campground! They charge $20 per person per night, instead of charging per site like most campgrounds. However, it has a beautiful location with a sandy beach on the Saco River and the sites are all plenty large and well spaced apart from each other. There are 5 clean outhouses for the 20 site campground and there is potable water available in 2 different locations. The camp store has all of the expected basic products and firewood is $5 per bundle. We stayed here the Friday night before the Fryeburg Fair, and we were surprised to be one of only three groups in the entire campground! It was a very pleasant place to stay, and I feel that it justified the somewhat higher price for a shore stay. - Sam Shirley

Promotions or Special Offers

Swan's Falls Campground and Canoe Access operates under a unique fee structure that differs from many campgrounds, focusing on a per-person charge rather than a per-site rate. While traditional "promotions" like percentage discounts are not widely advertised, there are specific rate structures that can be considered beneficial, especially for certain groups or those planning river trips.

  • Per-Person Daily Rate: The standard camping fee is $20 per person, per night, plus Maine lodging tax. This might seem different from other campgrounds charging per site, but it can be advantageous for smaller groups or solo campers. Children aged 10 and under are free, which is a significant saving for families.

  • Youth & Nonprofit Rates: Swan's Falls offers special rates for youth groups and nonprofit organizations. These rates are not publicly detailed and require contacting the SRRC office directly to inquire, making it a potential "special offer" for organized groups.

  • Combined Access and Parking Fees: While not a direct discount on camping, the SRRC uses its parking and access fees ($20 per day for parking, $5 per person access fee for non-campers) to support river initiatives like cleanup, education, and law enforcement. By camping or paying for access, you are contributing to the preservation of the Saco River, which could be seen as an indirect benefit or "value-add."

  • Free Fire Permits: Fire permits are required for campfires and are offered free of charge (though donations are welcome and used for river cleanup efforts), which is a nice amenity for campers.

For the most current pricing, youth/nonprofit rates, and specific details about any other offers, it is highly recommended to call Swan's Falls Campground directly or visit the Saco River Recreational Council's official website. Reservations for camping are recommended and can be made by calling the campground.
