Sugarloaf Key / Key West KOA Resort Reviews
Absolutely one of the best resorts that we have come across during our cross country trip. The place is clean with beautiful landscaping and great amenities. The bathrooms are spotless. The staff if one of the best we have experience friendly and helpful. It clear they take pride in keeping their resort clean. The mosquitoes were definitely a problem but no fault of the resort. We constantly saw employees spraying trying to manage them. So my only advice would be to bring a lot of mosquito repellent if you want to enjoy the outdoors and the amenities the resort has to offer.
May 22, 2025 · blanca P.This is the nicest KOA I’ve ever seen! The landscaping, service, lot sizes and proximity to KW are 5 stars! The store has essentials and some really nice non essentials to take with you back home. Everything is super clean/tidy and the attention to most details are def there!!We rented a kayak launch site and unfortunately couldn’t use it (we did once ) but it’s so muddy and mosquito filled, it would have been easier to launch from the marina ramp. Disappointing to pay extra for this site and not be able to use the amenity . The other super disappointing thing is the temp of the pool. It’s so hot, all day , that having a pool day with a place to cool off is out of the question . It’s a beautiful area with awesome bar and food options— but the pool has to be 90 plus degrees. There is ZERO grass for your pup. They have a cute /small dog park - it’s artificial turf. It would be nice to have a little grass somewhere for walking as the rocks are pretty tough on doggies paws (throughout the park). The turf is too hot in the sun and there is zero shade.
Jun 19, 2025 · Kelly WardWe stayed here for the first time since they rebuilt after the hurricane and we were extremely impressed by the thought put into this location. We had a KOA patio pull-through spot. It was very well landscaped and made it feel quite private despite the proximity to other sites likely about the same as other parks. The makes all the difference though. The pool and cafe area are very private and sectioned off. Food was surprisingly great. Limited offerings, but nice to be able to have options and good food which is super convenient being right there. Rest rooms are very clean though quite poorly designed. Wry tight and awkward layout was a huge miss in the design. But serviceable and most important no insects and solid well-sealed entry door to prevent that. Gift shop is being upscaled as the selection was surprisingly limited for such a destination location. Fantastic staff. Love having a host pilot come bring you to your site. Trash pickup throughout the day. Also awesome that they have hotel rooms now too if family or friends wanted to come stay as well but don’t have a camper.
Apr 13, 2025 · Anthony PalermoThis is one one of the best campgrounds we've ever been. It truly had a resort feel. Staff were all so pleasant, accommodating and available. The landscaping was exceptional. With the tropical foliage surrounding camp site, you felt secluded. The only disappointment was the lack of grounds for dogs. There's no grass, anywhere inside campground. We had to go outside of the gate to walk our pup. There is a small k9 park in a very convenient location but it's artificial turf and small.
May 03, 2025 · Pam SnyderCLEAN and QUIET. Recently stayed for a week, with my wife and mother in a R.V. (Thor Four Winds) My favorite feature was the privacy between hookups created by trees/bushes/plants. The bathrooms and showers were always clean and fresh smelling. That was for the entirety of my week there. Not once was it gross. That's impressive. The bar area is nice, covered with plenty of seating. The pool was nice, and the temperature was never too cold. They have a neat area covered in palms with hammocks, a great nap station. All of the staff was friendly and helpful. All things said, I would return. Also, driving by a lot of other RV sites, none of them looked as nice as the KOA.
