Stoney Creek Oasis is conveniently located at 11 Davis Chapel Rd, Candler, NC 28715, USA. This prime location places it just a short drive from the vibrant city of Asheville, known for its eclectic arts scene, breweries, and culinary delights. Furthermore, its proximity to the iconic Blue Ridge Parkway makes it an excellent base for exploring some of North Carolina's most scenic drives, hiking trails, and breathtaking overlooks. Accessibility to Stoney Creek Oasis is straightforward, typically involving well-maintained local roads. While it offers a sense of seclusion and a "backyard camping" feel, it remains easily reachable for travelers from across North Carolina. The advantage of its location is that you get the best of both worlds: a peaceful natural retreat, yet with the convenience of being close to urban amenities and major outdoor attractions. This balance is particularly appealing for locals who want to maximize their time enjoying nature without extensive travel.
Stoney Creek Oasis provides a blend of rustic charm and essential amenities to ensure a comfortable stay, though it’s important to note its non-traditional approach to camping.
Tent Camping Spaces: Multiple tent sites are available, with many situated directly on the bank of the beautiful Stoney Creek, offering the calming sounds of flowing water.
Yurt Rentals: Spacious yurts are available for those seeking a glamping experience. These yurts are large and equipped with vents for airflow, but guests should be prepared for no electricity, heating, or cooling other than natural ventilation. They require sleeping bags or heavy blankets for cooler seasons.
Flushing Toilets: Unlike many primitive campgrounds, Stoney Creek Oasis offers the convenience of flushing toilets, a highly appreciated amenity.
Showers Available: Guests have access to shower facilities, making for a more comfortable stay after a day of outdoor activities.
Laundry Facilities: For longer stays or those on extended road trips, laundry facilities are a significant convenience.
Community Dumpster: While not explicitly stated in all reviews, the nature of such a site implies a responsible waste disposal system, likely including communal bins.
Stoney Creek Oasis distinguishes itself with several unique features and highlights that contribute to its charm and appeal, offering a different kind of camping experience.
Dog-Friendly (Off-Leash Allowed): A major highlight for pet owners, dogs are permitted to roam off-leash, creating a truly welcoming environment for furry companions and their owners. This is a significant draw for those uncomfortable with typical leash restrictions at other campgrounds.
Beautiful Creekside Access: The presence of a beautiful, clear creek is a central feature. Many tent spots are directly creekside, offering serene views and the soothing sounds of flowing water. The creek provides excellent opportunities for swimming, wading, and playing for both kids and adults, with the water being cold but refreshing.
Quiet and Relaxing Atmosphere: The campground is praised for its quiet and peaceful ambiance, making it an ideal retreat for those seeking relaxation and escape from noise. It’s less about a bustling campground feel and more about a tranquil, natural setting.
Friendly Long-Term Campers/Van Lifers: The presence of long-term campers and van life residents contributes to a friendly and welcoming community vibe. These individuals are often very helpful, sharing insights and assistance with new arrivals.
Shaded vs. Sunny Spots: The campground offers a mix of shaded and sunny spots. Specific recommendations like Spot 4 being "the best creekside spot with almost 100% shade all day" are invaluable for campers planning their stay, allowing them to choose a site that best suits their preferences for sun exposure.
Non-Traditional Camping Experience: This is a key feature. It's not a large, regulated national park campground but rather offers a more rustic, informal, and almost "backyard" feel, appealing to those who prefer less structure and more freedom in their camping.
Proximity to Asheville and Blue Ridge Parkway: Its excellent location provides easy access to major attractions, making it a great base for exploring the region's hiking trails, scenic drives, and urban amenities.
Ongoing Improvements (Bathroom "Work in Progress"): While some facilities, like the bathroom sink or pump system, might be described as "a work in progress," this can also be seen as a sign of continuous development and care, reflecting a commitment to enhancing the guest experience over time.

Stoney Creek Oasis Reviews
Not your traditional campground! But overall great. Dogs are allowed off leashes so if you’re unsure or not comfortable with free roaming pets, go elsewhere. If you’re looking for traditional camping, go to your closest national forest or park. If you want quiet, nice people, and a beautiful creek to explore, stay here! We essentially had the place to ourselves along with a few of their long term campers/van life folks, and they were all super nice and welcoming. Flushing toilets, shower and laundry available. Most of the spots are creekside and it was beautiful and relaxing. Spots 3,4,16 and 17 have shade. The others are sunny 95% of the day. 4 was the best creek side spot with almost 100% shade all day! The creek was cold but not freezing, refreshing and our kids and us had a blast playing in it.Cons: the road next to it can have loud cars at times; unfortunately the number we were given to call for any questions worked but our call was never returned so you’re essentially on your own for any questions. Luckily we had the nicest long term camper there to help us out with questions, he was also working on the farm.My son (9), said “this is cool camping in someone’s back yard..” again, not a big traditional campground but we enjoyed the creek and having the place almost to ourselves to play and run around.
Jun 09, 2024 · Kyla HalterSolid campsite with yurts and tent spaces. The tent spaces are right on the creek bank. The creek is clear with good swimming and wading areas. We stayed in a Yurt, but could still hear the creek at night. The yurt is huge. It is equipped with vents that can be opened with a screen cover. That will be important in the summer as the yurts get hot inside. If you camp during the spring or fall, bring sleeping bags or heavy blankets as it gets very cold. The yurts have no electricity, heat or cooling other than by mother nature. My only complaint is that the sink in the bathroom is not hooked up. Also, the pump system (and hot water device) in the bathroom takes some time to figure out. The bathroom appears to be a work in progress. Location is great- near the Blue Ridge Parkway and Asheville. It's a great location for a hiking trip.
