Spring Lake Campground is conveniently located at 3939 Spring Lake Rd, Burlington, IA 52601, USA. This address places it within the reach of many communities across Southeast Iowa, making it a potentially accessible option for local residents looking for a nearby escape. Burlington, a city known for its historic charm and Mississippi River frontage, provides a backdrop that combines natural beauty with the convenience of urban amenities a short drive away.
The campground's proximity to Burlington means that while you can enjoy a sense of being away from it all, essential services, supplies, and other conveniences are not far off. This can be a significant advantage for campers who may need to resupply, seek emergency services, or simply wish to explore the local area's attractions. Accessing the campground typically involves navigating local roads, which are generally well-maintained. Given its location in Iowa, travelers should always be mindful of weather conditions, especially during spring and fall, which can impact road accessibility.
For those traveling with RVs or trailers, the accessibility of the grounds themselves is a key consideration. Based on user feedback, it appears that some lots may not be perfectly level, and space for maneuvering larger vehicles could be tight. This is a common characteristic of many campgrounds, and it’s often advisable for RV owners to be prepared with leveling blocks and to exercise caution when navigating the internal roads and parking spots. The location also brings with it the potential for natural occurrences, such as flooding, especially if the Mississippi River water levels rise. Visitors should remain aware of local weather and river conditions, and be prepared to move their campers if advised by local authorities or management.
Understanding the location and its potential implications for accessibility is crucial for planning a smooth and enjoyable camping trip. While the address is straightforward, being prepared for the on-site conditions, as well as being aware of regional weather patterns, will contribute to a more informed and comfortable experience at Spring Lake Campground.
Based on available information and user reviews, Spring Lake Campground appears to offer a somewhat limited range of services compared to larger, more amenity-rich camping resorts. It's important for prospective campers to manage their expectations regarding the facilities available on-site.
Basic RV/Campsites: The primary service offered is the provision of camping spaces suitable for RVs and possibly tents, though the emphasis seems to be on RV accommodation. These sites provide a spot to park your camper or pitch your tent.
Water Hookups: Water hookups are available at the campsites. However, it is crucial to note that multiple user reviews indicate concerns about the water quality. Reports suggest the water may be undrinkable, full of sediment, and delivered with low pressure. Campers are strongly advised to bring their own potable water for drinking and cooking, and to consider using external filters to protect their RV's plumbing from sediment.
It is evident from user feedback that the amenities are minimal and the overall condition of some services may not meet the expectations of all campers. Prospective visitors should be prepared for a self-sufficient camping experience, bringing all necessary supplies and being mindful of the reported conditions of the available services.
While Spring Lake Campground may not boast an extensive list of luxury features, it does offer some characteristics that define the camping experience there. It’s important to understand these aspects to determine if the campground aligns with your preferences for an outdoor stay.
Proximity to Nature: Being a campground, its primary feature is its setting, offering access to the outdoors in the Burlington area. For those seeking a simple connection with nature without numerous distractions, this could be appealing.
Quiet Environment: Away from the immediate city bustle, the campground likely offers a quieter environment, which can be a highlight for campers looking for peace and tranquility.
Potential for Long-Term Stays: Some reviews suggest individuals staying for extended periods, indicating it might cater to those needing longer-term accommodation, such as contract workers in the area.
Basic Utility Hookups: The presence of water hookups, despite reported quality issues, is a fundamental feature for RV campers, providing a basic utility connection.
Cost-Effectiveness (Potential): While not explicitly stated, campgrounds with fewer amenities often come at a lower price point, which can be a highlight for budget-conscious travelers.
It is important to acknowledge that some user reviews highlight negative aspects concerning the campground's features and overall condition. These include unlevel lots, tight parking and maneuvering spaces for campers, a general sense of the facilities appearing "deserted and run down," and a lack of additional amenities. Additionally, the potential for flooding from the Mississippi River is a significant natural feature that campers must be aware of and prepared for. Therefore, while it offers a basic outdoor experience, campers should manage their expectations regarding the level of comfort and modern conveniences.

Spring Lake Campground, located in Burlington, Iowa, presents a particular option for local residents considering a camping experience. While it may not align with everyone's ideal vision of a modern, amenity-rich campground, its suitability for locals largely depends on individual expectations and priorities.
For those in the immediate Burlington area and surrounding Southeast Iowa communities, Spring Lake Campground offers a convenient, close-to-home option for a quick getaway. The advantage of its local proximity means minimal travel time, allowing for spontaneous weekend trips or even mid-week escapes without the need for extensive planning or long drives. This can be particularly appealing for individuals or families looking for a low-commitment outdoor experience close to urban conveniences.
Furthermore, if you are a seasoned camper accustomed to more rustic conditions and are largely self-sufficient, Spring Lake Campground might serve as a practical base. It offers basic utility hookups, which can be sufficient for RV owners who prioritize a simple parking spot over a vast array of recreational facilities. Locals who have their own portable water supplies, waste management solutions, and who prefer to spend their time exploring the surrounding natural environment or local attractions rather than relying on on-site amenities, might find it suitable.
However, it is crucial for locals to approach Spring Lake Campground with a realistic understanding of its reported limitations. The consistent feedback regarding water quality, unlevel sites, and the perceived dated condition of some facilities suggests that it caters more to a no-frills camping style. If your primary goal is a budget-friendly place to park your RV or pitch a tent, and you are prepared to manage potential issues like water sediment or low pressure, then the campground’s accessibility and basic offerings could make it a viable choice.
In essence, Spring Lake Campground is best suited for local Iowans who value convenience, proximity, and a straightforward camping experience over extensive amenities or polished facilities. It serves as a reminder that not all camping needs are the same, and for some, the simplicity and local access of Spring Lake Campground may be exactly what they are looking for in an outdoor escape.

Spring Lake Campground Reviews
If I could give this place zero stars or negative I would, because I have never been treated so rudely and so inconceivably and consciously disrespectful in my whole life! Manager Cindy here decided to after telling us we had until noon the following day because our paycheck was late due to we are working on the road and our paycheck was running a little behind told us we could wait and pay until noon the next day. But instead seeing my boyfriend leaving for work at 5:38 in the morning and proceeded to tell us we had to leave because she checked her box and the money wasn't there. I asked her if she realized it was 5:38 in the morning and no banks were possibly open this early she didn't seem to care she wanted us to go and threaten to call the sheriffs if we weren't out by noon. This is not our first encounter with this woman not to mention the fact that the water is on drinkable the restrooms are closed everything looks deserted and run down and dilapidated around here and she is constantly finding something to b**** about every day. On top of all these things she has her maintenance manager that drives by a daily trying to peek in our windows trying to see what we're doing in our house when we're here it's very obtrusive and considerate and this place gets no stars from me I would not recommend this to any place or anyone for any type of reason. She is a miserable old woman and will find any reason to try to push you away and make your time here not pleasant. If I were you I would save your money and stay home or find any place else to be then here.
Dec 18, 2024 · Melissa EvansStayed here for while when doing contract in the area. Based on my experience and dealing with the manager whom tries to act like a bully. Never had issue with any dozens of rv parks in the past like I did with springlake campground. Anyways don't let the manager bully you, remind her that she is running a business in Iowa and we'll law's apply even when she having a tantrum.Anyways lots are not level, water is unsafe to drink (county health department will test eater specimens if you ask them fyi), water is full of sediment so will clog your rv lines or filter, water pressure is low, parking is tight, space to move camper is tight, no amenities, unsafe sometimes, etc.Place will flood if Mississippi River comes up so be prepared to move camper out if it does. Will post some pics of flooding plus petty notes and threats manager left on camper.Anyways beware. I've been ER travel nurse since 2016 and staying at spring lake campground was absolutely miserable for me. I would not recommend any travel nurses stay there for sure.
Nov 23, 2024 · Corey BlantonLooking for RV parks, and thought to give this one a try. I guess should have read the reviews. Husband pulled into place and about 5 minutes was all it took to pull right back out. Place is a dump for sure. Lady or manager that owns place was rude too. I think Cindee was her name. Only accepts cash and nothing else. This is the equivalent of a one star hotel for sure.
Aug 11, 2024 · Skye SellersI would avoid this place as far as campgrounds or rv parks go. It for sure is not an RV park. The RV spots are not level at all. The water is unsafe to drink and even shower in. The sewer, water, and electric connections are on odd sides. There are many copperhead moccasins there that will and do get in some crevices on the rv's so be careful. There are no amenities, no laundry, nothing really. However do to the very unprofessional conduct of Cindy towards our employees working the area, my company will not allow future employees to stay at this rv park while doing jobs in the area.
Oct 26, 2024 · Stoneheart Group LLCVisit to trouble shooting rv problems, camping ground not what you see in photos on a search. Fact is half, if you know the area are outside campground. Photos of hunters on shore at camp ground, any hunter knows you can not hunt that close to houses. They are staged. The maintenance man is all up you your face. He seem to spend more time trash talking and/or trying to make a deal on something someone has. The last maintenance man he says let go cause of theft. Operator wants cash only, that a red flag nowadays. Prices are lower than other, but like other things you get what you pay for
