November 25 · Yuncong MaI love Bassriver camp grounds. It's beautiful, quiet, bathroom are good, take hot showers before sleeping, people are friendly, camp sights are clean with fire pits and picnic tables. Haven't been to the concession area yet and new facilities but the camping is great.
April 10 · gary reitzDecent campground with large sites, some offer more privacy than others but plenty of options for those who want to camp with a larger group by booking adjacent standard sites at North or south campgrounds or group sites. I stayed at the South campgrounds and if you’re using Google maps GPS, make sure it’s routed to the entrance along Stage road and NOT service road. The check in process was easy as I already provided info online and prepaid for my stay. The campgrounds are pet friendly and there are designated sites that allow pets. Like others have noted, the floor conditions are sandy and there were many ants on my particular campsite so it’s important not to leave food out for long periods or time or it’ll be infested with ants. There were also plenty of mosquitos during dusk hours so pack bug spray or wear long clothes. The lake is closed to swimming this season (2025) due to septic repairs in the area but fishing is still available to those who have a license or want to buy one online or at the local Walmart. The Jersey shore or Atlantic City are both approximately 35 minutes away, which is convenient for an excursion away from the campgrounds. Beach badges are available for sale on Long Beach island before 4PM and free to visit the beach after 4PM. Firewood is available for purchase onsite for $7/bundle and there was plenty of deadfall around to help get a fire started. Picnic tables with cooking grates are available at each site and access to drinking water spouts are found throughout the campsite. My only critique is the bathrooms could’ve been better cleaned and maintained. Bathroom stalls were still filled with cobwebs after the maintenance person finished their cleaning and they clearly didn’t bother to clean with very much care. I would consider visiting this campsite again in the future because of how close it is to the beach.
