Smokey Hollow Campground Reviews
I'm normally not one to leave a review and I always give a place the benefit of the doubt but I was very disappointed with our stay at Smokey Hollow. We have camped at many campgrounds and this place came highly rated to us. Unfortunately we are unable to rate it highly. First of all, the safety of any and all guests should be of utmost importance. But it did not seem as if it was unless a complaint was filed. There were young kids racing around on golf carts, groups of kids playing tag with golf carts and speeding up and down and around corners. We witnessed multiple small children almost get hit by a golf cart, as well as many kids turning corners and almost tipping the golf cart. There was no safety or enforcement of rules with these kids by parents or campground staff. The dump station, while yes, a dump station, seemed rather unsanitary. It did not seem as if it is well maintained. And for a campground of that size, while mostly seasonal, should have more than one for overnight guests. It also congests traffic right at the main gate. We witnessed our friends camper almost get hit by an impatient driver. While we did not swim, the pictures make the pond look much larger than it was. Many of the amenities seemed rather run down. It was disappointing that there were so many extra charges for activities on a themed weekend given the amount we paid for the site for the weekend. We did not mind our site. It was a decent size site and the fire pits are great. Water pressure was good. No issues there. The kids loved the jumping pillow and all the staff we encountered were friendly.Overall a 2 out of 5.
Jun 01, 2025 · Lauren TuckerThis is a nice campground. Our pull thru site had a large cement pad and fire pit. We were next to a playground and very close to a jump pad. There were limited activities and the swim pond was empty because we stayed prior to Memorial day. In mid summer, I would expect kids to be busy non-stop.
May 19, 2025 · Benjamin DickersonSo we stayed this weekend before Memorial Day. As we are packing up we are taking a moment to reflect on our camp experience! This weekend when we arrived (Friday at check in) it was hot beautiful and we had to turn the ac on. Then it started to storm, rain and got super cold! BUT Friday was the only day our boys (12,10,8,6) came to us and asked us what to do! (because they didn’t know we booked here for them to not be at the camp site). We told them go ride your bikes and make some friends! Well Saturday they did JUST that! They made friends, they played, rode bikes and more without the use of the pond! We hardly saw them! Not only the over night campers but the seasonal holders watch for kids and kids at heart! There was so much for them to do and us as well (we enjoyed candy bar bingo last night! Even though we didn’t win it was super fun! We also enjoyed the sign making earlier that morning. We have already booked another stay! 100 out of 5 stars! They were amazing! Beautiful facilities, full size showers, room to enjoy sitting around the fire without a neighbor being right on top of you. Fun for the whole family! The kids even asked if we really had to go home today. If you’re thinking about stopping by for a weekend do it! We are already planning our next stay!
