Whether your ideal trip involves unwinding by the lake, enjoying competitive games, or simply relaxing by a campfire, this campground has it "all and I mean all." For Virginia locals, it's more than just a place to pitch a tent or park an RV; it's a destination where cherished family memories are made, year after year, reinforcing why it's been honored as the "2023 Virginia Campground of the Year."

Louisa is within a reasonable driving distance from many of the state's major population centers, making it an ideal choice for weekend trips or longer vacations without requiring excessive travel time.
While the general area is easily reachable, it's worth noting, as one reviewer mentioned, that "the roads were a little narrow the last few minutes of getting to the campground" for larger RVs like a 5th wheel. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We visited this campground the week before Memorial Day. We had a couple of days of nice and sunny weather with heavy rain the last day. I think we had the best site in the campground. It was a nice pull through that overlooked the lake. It was level and easy to get to. It was a quiet week as we were not there on a weekend. They have a jumping pad and playground for the kids and a really nice mini golf course. The pool was open, but it was too chilly for the pool. The pool is small, so it may be busy on weekends or holidays. The owners and everyone working there were the nicest and friendliest people. They were working hard preparing for an upcoming busy Memorial Day. The lake has a couple of sandy beach areas and you can get in the lake and kayak as well. There is a trail that goes around the park. This is a great family campground. Our grandchildren would enjoy this. The amenities are close enough together the kids would have an easy time enjoying all of it. We have a large 5th wheel and the roads were a little narrow the last few minutes of getting to the campground. We took a different route out on the advice of other campers and it was better. For a relaxing, clean, family campground, you won't be disappointed with Small Country.
May 30 · Terri WaltersWow. This campground has it all and I mean all. If you are looking for amenities for kids you won't be disappointed. I will list them all in a minute. We stayed a week. Check in was smooth. Big rig friendly. Friendly staff. Weekend activities. Each site has a table and fire ring. Wood sold onsite. Camp store was nice and what you would expect. Friday and Saturday they had a snack shack open with homemade pizzas, they were good. 🍕. Kevin loved the white chocolate chip cookies too.Large pond with walking trail. 2 docks to fish off of. Kayak launch, boats for rent. 2 awesome beaches. Water was nice and clean and the sand was nice and looks like it has fools gold in it. Putt putt course. Huge jumping pad, multiple playgrounds, multiple corn hole boards in 2 places, horse shoes, multiple bath houses (and clean), laundry (2.00 each, but dryers are huge so I got 3 loads in dryer) pool, shuffleboard, huge game room, basketball, hiking trails easy for kids too, dog park with 2 sides for small and large dogs, pet waste stations, weekend activities like bingo and trivia with prizes, wagon rides and more. This place was a great place to unwind. Close to the battlefields to take day trips. Would definitely recommend.
June 12 · Shawn & Kevin DonohueThey don't allow campers under the year 2010 to camp there... even though they have permanent campers with decks and awnings older than 20 years... My 45' pristine Country Coach Class A motorhome doesn't make the cut...
June 17 · chris craigBeautiful campground. It is well maintained and bathhouses are very clean. Nice walking paths. There is a trampoline, playground, pool, and mini golf for the kids. The camp store is lacking in essentials and a deli or small restaurant would be nice. There are no local restaurants.
February 11 · Bird KSpent this past long weekend at Small Country.... Pulled in and found the entrance and check in area well marked and easy to park and access. I was greeted by two very nice ladies who were eager to help and answer questions. As is customary, I was given a map with sharpie markings on where my site was and the best way to get to it. Ladies discussed the bath house location and I was on my way.... I stayed in a pull through in the "orange" section which was very easy to get into and out of. No issues at all with wifi, sewer or 30A power. Every pedestal has 30 and 50A plugs. Our site had cable and I was told that construction is underway to add cable to ALL sites. Weather was a bit chilly in the evenings, so the fire ring on every site was a nice touch. We rolled into Louisa and found several stores, we went to the Tractor Supply and got a few things.... Oh... I forgot to mention that the office has a very well stocked camp store, with some merchandise and food items, as well as some light camping items you may have forgotten.... We'll be back!!!
