Camping in Wisconsin offers a unique opportunity to connect with the natural beauty of the state, from its sprawling forests to its picturesque lakeshores. Whether you're a seasoned camper with a fully-equipped RV or looking to try tent camping for the first time, finding a local spot that meets your needs is crucial. Sleepy Hollow Farm presents itself as an option within this vibrant outdoor landscape, and we'll delve into its specifics to give you a well-rounded picture.
Location and Accessibility
Sleepy Hollow Farm is conveniently located at 1679 W Waukau Ave, Oshkosh, WI 54902, USA. Oshkosh itself is a well-known city in Wisconsin, offering a balance of urban conveniences and access to natural attractions. The campground's address places it within reach for many Wisconsin residents, making it a viable option for weekend getaways or longer stays without extensive travel. Its proximity to local roads and highways suggests relatively easy accessibility for vehicles of various sizes, though some user reviews indicate that internal roads within the campground itself may present challenges, especially for larger campers. It's advisable for visitors, particularly those with 35-foot campers or larger, to be prepared for potentially unpaved or muddy conditions and limited maneuvering space, especially upon exit. While the exact driving time will vary depending on your starting point within Wisconsin, its location in Oshkosh positions it as a reasonably accessible destination for many in the central and eastern parts of the state.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
For locals in Wisconsin, Sleepy Hollow Farm offers a campground option that, while having its quirks, might appeal to specific types of campers. If you're a seasoned RV owner with a self-contained unit, primarily seeking a convenient place to park in the Oshkosh area with minimal fuss, this campground could potentially fit your needs. The informal atmosphere and lack of constant monitoring might be a plus for those who prefer a less structured camping experience and value privacy. Its location in Oshkosh makes it easily accessible for many Wisconsin residents, reducing travel time and allowing for more time spent enjoying the outdoors, or as a base for exploring the local area.
However, it is crucial for potential visitors to manage their expectations based on past camper experiences. Those relying heavily on campground amenities such as consistently functioning WiFi, readily available water hookups, clean and easily accessible showers, or a consistently open bar and office may find the offerings inconsistent. The condition of the internal roads, particularly for larger vehicles, and the general maintenance of the grounds, including muddy areas and refuse disposal, are also important considerations. Tent campers, in particular, should be prepared for basic conditions and potential issues with shared facilities.
Ultimately, Sleepy Hollow Farm appears to be best suited for Wisconsin residents who prioritize a basic, no-frills parking spot for their RV, are comfortable with a very hands-off approach from management, and are prepared for potential inconsistencies in advertised services. It could serve as a practical, albeit rustic, base for exploring Oshkosh and the surrounding Wisconsin landscape, especially for those looking for a budget-friendly alternative to more amenity-rich campgrounds or traditional lodging. As with any outdoor adventure, being well-prepared and understanding the realities of your chosen destination will significantly enhance your experience. For Wisconsin locals seeking a truly self-sufficient camping trip close to home, Sleepy Hollow Farm might just be the quiet, unembellished spot you're looking for, provided you are aware of its unique operational style.

Sleepy Hollow Farm Reviews
The bar is nice though they could offer campers at least a pizza. There are no hours posted anywhere for the bar or office. There is a sign that says office but no one ever around if you had questions. The worst part for us were the roads in and out. We have a 35 foot camper and leaving was the worst part of our stay. The exit road was blocked with a huge camper set up on it. We had to go through mud that we were worried about getting stuck in and go all the way out in the back field to get out. Our truck and camper were full of mud and it was flying everywhere as we went down the highway. Gravel would have helped out a lot!
Jun 30, 2025 · Kim DirkesStayed June 19–26, tent camping. We booked this place hoping for a low-cost alternative to a hotel with basic comforts like showers, WiFi, and electric hookup. What we got instead was a rough experience that left us wishing we’d spent the extra $100 on a motel.Check-in was informal, to say the least. Upon arrival, we were intercepted by an older man in a pickup who interrogated us about why we were there. Once we explained we had a reservation, he lightened up and offered a more private spot than the one we’d booked. Oddly, the reservation system showed only two spots available, but the campground was maybe half full, and we were the only tent campers, so availability doesn’t seem accurately represented. The interactive booking map didn’t work either.Amenities were a mixed bag. The campground advertises showers, WiFi, and water at every site. What they don’t tell you is that:• Showers cost $1 (in quarters) for 5 minutes and reek of mildew and urine.• WiFi barely functions.• Water hookups weren’t even turned on. One morning, the water didn’t run anywhere on the grounds. When we brought this up to the owner’s wife, she shrugged and said there was probably a pressure leak and that she’d “let her husband know.” I asked about a partial refund and her demeanor immediately changed — very defensive. After that, we never heard from or saw staff again. The only number listed doesn’t work, and the office building is just storage. Even the bar was only open one night. The grounds themselves are muddy, poorly maintained, and littered with bundles of wood and brush. A non-swimming pond at the north end stinks, and frogs chirped loud enough to keep us up past midnight. The electric hookup claims 20W and 30W but couldn’t handle an air fryer without tripping. The bathrooms are modern-ish but barely functional. Toilets don’t flush properly, so plungers are provided — helpful if you’re not already exhausted from slogging through mud to get there. Garbage disposal? One overflowing dumpster right at the entrance. Very inviting. To be fair, the lack of monitoring did offer some freedom — no one bothered us, and that was a plus. But beyond that, it was a stressful, unsupervised mess.Would I recommend this place? Not really. And that’s coming from someone staying here out of necessity, not vacation. Maybe if you’ve got a self-contained RV and just need a place to park, it could work. But don’t count on functioning amenities or hospitality. This felt more like someone turning a backyard into a cash grab during festival season than a legitimate campground.
Jun 26, 2025 · Justin Stanelle5.21.25 We booked here for 2 nights online. Paid for and accepted the terms. A stupid thing to do. It was raining, the office closed. No one in sight. All the sites were underwater. We tried calling the phone number on the site. Doesn't work. We were contacted by a woman that told us we wouldn't get our money back and basically to eat the loss of our two nights fees. A total scam. A -1 star review.
May 28, 2025 · marilyn peacockCustomer service is not this Rv Resort's priority. Call to confirm their location as it is not clearly visible on Google Map. The gentle man on the other line was extremely rude and was offended at my question . Take your money somewhere else. Go see Ms. Cindy at Hickory Oaks. You'll have a better overall experience.
