It's a place where you can enjoy the convenience of modern comforts while being immersed in the stunning Idaho wilderness. While some experiences with staff, as noted in reviews, can sometimes be challenging, the core offerings of cleanliness, amenities, and the beautiful location consistently draw people back. This lakeside location is a major draw, offering immediate access to one of Idaho's most popular recreational lakes for fishing, boating, and various water sports.
Access to the campground is generally straightforward. Website: For the most up-to-date information on rates, availability, reservation policies, and any specific alerts (like fire restrictions or seasonal closures), it is highly recommended to visit the official SISCRA Campground website or contact them directly using the provided phone numbers or email. While some staff interactions, as noted in reviews, can be perceived differently, direct communication with the campground management is the best way to clarify policies and ensure a smooth visit.
For us Idahoans, SISCRA Campground offers a compelling and often excellent choice for our outdoor adventures, particularly for those drawn to the beauty and recreation of Lake Cascade. Its suitability for locals lies in its robust amenities, strategic location, and its commitment to providing a well-maintained public space, despite occasional challenges with individual staff interactions.
Firstly, the prime lakeside location on Lake Cascade is a major draw. We appreciate having direct access to such a popular body of water for fishing, boating, and swimming right from our campsite. This makes it incredibly convenient for family outings, weekend getaways, or simply enjoying the peaceful Idaho scenery. The presence of a boat launch ramp further enhances its appeal for water sports enthusiasts.
Secondly, the extensive amenities, including abundant electric hookups, hot showers, and clean restrooms, offer a significant level of comfort that isn't always available at more primitive public campgrounds. These conveniences make SISCRA particularly attractive for RVers and families who appreciate a less rustic experience without sacrificing the natural setting. The availability of firewood and a dump station on-site further streamline the camping process.
While the provided reviews highlight some concerning interactions with certain staff members regarding rule enforcement, it's important to weigh these against the overall positive feedback about the campground's cleanliness, amenities, and location. Many campers still report having an "amazing time," enjoying the "great views" and "decent fishing," and finding the atmosphere "usually quiet and calm." The fact that it's managed by a non-profit focused on senior citizens, with proceeds reinvested, speaks to a foundational commitment to the campground's long-term quality, a value many Idahoans can appreciate.
Ultimately, SISCRA Campground remains a strong option for Idaho locals seeking a comfortable, amenity-rich base to explore Lake Cascade and the central Idaho mountains. By being aware of potential interactions as noted in reviews, and focusing on the consistently praised facilities and location, visitors can plan for an enjoyable and memorable outdoor experience in our beautiful state.

SISCRA Campground Reviews
Clean campground with amenities, but many staff are not nice and will hassle you about almost anything with some pretty noticeable aggression; I’ve never had this kind of encounter at any campground in my life. When checked in, the guy and gal were very friendly and we chatted; as I drove away I remember thinking “man, this is going to be great, they were so nice”. When I returned the next day, I didn’t have my parking tag in my window driving by the booth (again, I wasn’t parked, I was actively driving) and the guy about ran out his door to stop me, to which he proceeded to chew me out that I either need to display my parking pass while driving (which creates a reflection in my windshield that is both distracting and unsafe while driving) or stop and tell him what’s going on when I come in, I said OK I’ll remember. I have never had a campground in all of Idaho behave like that when it came to driving through. It would’ve been a lot nicer for him to just say “hey we do not allow unchecked visitors, as weird as that may seem, so please just flash your tag at me as you drive by. Thanks” that would have been more reasonable than being a condescending asshole about it. This dude had a goatee/mustache and what looked like a piercing stud in his cheek; maybe mid 40’sI proceed down the road and another guy (60’s, white hair with beard and glasses) walks straight down toward me in the middle of the road, I glance at the speedometer and I’m going 7 mph before slowing to a stop to chat; because he clearly wanted to chat. He walked up to my window, then proceeds to start yelling and chewing me out saying “if you’re gonna stay here you need to slow down goddamnit, we got kids here and you’re driving like an out of control maniac”. I said “sir I’m normally driving 5 or less, I was going 7 just now when I looked” he proceeded to argue and said “no you weren’t, you are out of control”. I said “I have little kids myself so safety is a priority to me. I’m aware of my surroundings, I’ve seen 3 people walking around in the 2 days I’ve been here, and I’m driving pretty slow throughout the campground”. He was wearing a jacket but as I was asking “do you work here?” I saw a SISCRA logo peaking out from his jacket on his red shirt. He kept raising his voice and stating he was on the board; I asked him to calm down several times and he just yelled each time “I am calm!” He acted like I was driving through the camp at about 30 mph when I was slightly above walking pace without noticing. If he had just said “hey, please watch your speed as we have kids walking through here sometimes and they don’t pay attention, so I need you to pay attention, thanks” that would’ve been a very reasonable thing to say, not scream at somebody for going 1-2 mph above the posted limit.I would not recommend staying here. The harassment from multiple staff was not worth it. This place went from a great entry to an awful stay within a couple days. No extra stars for amenities because most of the staff I encountered one of the days are just ill-mannered with high blood pressure and temperaments to match. If any staff/owners/etc want to talk to me, you are welcome to call me and we can chat all about this experience.
Jun 22, 2025 · Brandon BigfordI always have an amazing time in SISCRA. Great people, great views, decent fishing. It is usually quiet and calm. My family will always come back to visit.
Jul 09, 2023 · David HunterIt is so beautiful here. Surrounded by water and Cascade Lake. Has a beautiful boat ramp and lovely people running it. I I rented a spot for the whole summer for my RV and have just adored coming up here with friends and family. They also have activities such as Bingo and meals and raffles and crafts fairs.
Aug 11, 2017 · Lynn KillianI love it, but they have rules. You can't be loud after 10 pm, and there's a few others.
Jun 14, 2025 · amy CarverWe are very pleased with our time here. We are finding it to be very quiet, the weather is pleasant, the hiking trails are lovely. They are requiring masks within the park when you leave your campsite. But that's our only complaint.
