Shady Firs RV & Campsite is particularly well-regarded for its comprehensive services, especially beneficial for long-term residents, but also catering to short-term visitors:
- Full Hookups: The park provides full hookup sites, which typically include water, sewer, and electricity. This is a significant convenience, especially for longer stays, as it eliminates the need for frequent tank dumping and allows for comfortable living.
- Water, Sewer, Garbage, and Electricity Included: For monthly lot rentals, these essential utilities are often included, simplifying budgeting and enhancing the value of the stay. This all-inclusive approach is highly praised by long-term residents.
- Spacious RV Lots: Unlike many RV parks that maximize density, Shady Firs offers generous lot sizes. Some residents even have "fenced in lot with fruit trees" and "beautiful lawn," providing a rare level of personal space and a home-like environment.
- Natural Setting: The park boasts a "natural RV Setting" with "big trees" and "No Cement slabs," offering a more appealing and less sterile environment than many urban or highly developed RV resorts.
- Monthly Lot Rental: The availability of long-term rental options with inclusive utilities is a key service that distinguishes Shady Firs, making it a viable and attractive option for those seeking extended stays or even a semi-permanent base.
- Pet-Friendly: While not explicitly stated in the provided reviews, RV parks of this nature often accommodate pets, though policies (e.g., leash rules, designated areas) should always be confirmed.
- Easy Access to US-12: The direct access to the highway streamlines travel and errands, providing convenience without sacrificing a sense of seclusion within the park itself.
Shady Firs RV & Campsite offers several key features and highlights that make it a compelling choice for RVers:
- Exceptional Value for Long-Term Stays: As highlighted by a long-term resident, the value offered at Shady Firs is "unparalleled." They noted never finding anything comparable "even for 2 or 3 times the price," especially considering the spacious lots and included utilities. This makes it an incredibly attractive option for locals considering long-term RV living or extended seasonal stays.
- Natural and Shaded Environment: The presence of "beautiful, big trees" provides ample shade and a more aesthetically pleasing, natural ambiance compared to asphalt or concrete-dominated parks. This helps keep RVs cooler in summer and contributes to the secluded feel.
- Secluded Feel Despite Highway Proximity: Despite its location "right on Hwy 12," the park's design and natural foliage create a sense of seclusion, minimizing road noise and enhancing the peaceful atmosphere.
- Spacious, Home-Like Lots: The availability of large lots, some even fenced with personal amenities like fruit trees and lawns, is a significant differentiator. This allows residents to personalize their space and enjoy a much higher quality of life than typically found in RV parks.
- Community Atmosphere (for long-term residents): While not explicitly detailed, the fact that residents have been there for "over 6 years" and "have no plans for leaving anytime soon" suggests a stable, comfortable, and potentially communal environment for long-term residents.
- Gateway to Outdoor Recreation: The park's location in Randle places it at the doorstep of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, offering access to countless opportunities for hiking, fishing, hunting, wildlife viewing, and exploring the natural beauty of the Cascade Mountains.
- Convenient Access to Local Attractions: From Randle, visitors can easily access destinations like Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument, various trails leading into the Dark Divide Roadless Area, and the scenic Cowlitz River for fishing and boating.

Shady Firs RV & Campsite Reviews
We live here in the long term section of the park and have been here for over 6 years now and have no plans for leaving anytime soon. We have a fenced in lot with fruit trees, a storage shed and most parks would have put 2 or 3 trailers in the nice lot we have with a beautiful lawn and water, sewer, garbage and electricity are included in the monthly lot rental. We have traveled across the country and never found anything like this even for 2 or 3 times the price we pay here.
May 30, 2024 · Richard MollerBeautiful, big trees, No Cement slabs, natural RV Setting right on Hwy 12. But feels Secluded .
May 12, 2025 · Lynnette Nelson-EricksonWe're going to change locations thought Shady Spurs look like a nice place metal Old Gentleman told us go ahead and take a look at the place we have to book in advance. Not a problem then some crazy woman on a golf cart cutting through camps told us that we only had to be there by appointment we had to get off the property. Wouldn't go back to save my life. Hope this helps other people to find a better spot to camp.
Sep 02, 2024 · Scott CurtisShady Firs is a wonderful, quiet campground. $35 a night for full hook up, with a Passport America membership, otherwise, $60 a night. We have a 45' fifth wheel. This price includes trash.
Oct 01, 2024 · Jacintha Shop-WifeA old park off HWY 12. A nice owner. No mobile phone, no WIFI. Good for a one night stay.
