I was so excited to spend three nights here having no idea what black flies are. I ended up losing my money because when I did find out about “black fly season” I had to make the decision to make other plans after traveling many hours from PA. I would have showed up rather unprepared had some nice Maine peeps not warned me before I made the last 2.5 hr drive.Apparently, it goes from Memorial Day to July 4th? Or that’s the worst time anyway. I wish they were more forthcoming on their website and in their reservation information. I can’t imagine being that far from civilization and not having the things you need to protect yourself. I also didn’t want to walk around for three days with a bug nut over my head and my poor dog would have suffered.I’ve heard it’s absolutely beautiful and something to be seen. I would just suggest getting an education about the bugs prior to paying for reservations. - Heidi Evans

Location and Accessibility

Seboomook Wilderness Campground is strategically located at 2538 Seboomook Rd, Seboomook Lake, ME 04478, USA. This address places it directly on the shores of Seboomook Lake, a large and picturesque body of water that serves as a focal point for many of the activities available at the campground. The drive to Seboomook is an adventure in itself, winding through the vast expanses of Maine’s unorganized townships, offering glimpses of the state’s raw and untamed beauty. While the journey might be a bit extensive for some, particularly those traveling from more populated areas of Maine or outside the state, the remoteness is precisely what contributes to its appeal and offers a genuine wilderness experience.
