As a New York State Parks campground, Scaroon Manor operates under the standardized fee structure established by the state. Therefore, it does not typically offer "promotions" in the commercial sense of discounts or limited-time deals often seen at private establishments. However, there are inherent value propositions and potential discounts available through state programs that New York residents should be aware of:
Standardized Affordable Rates: New York State Parks generally offers very competitive and affordable camping rates compared to many private campgrounds. This consistent affordability is a "standing offer" for budget-conscious locals.
New York State Golden Age Pass: For eligible New York State residents aged 62 or older, the Golden Age Pass can provide significant benefits, including free vehicle access to state parks and discounts on camping fees. It is highly recommended for seniors to inquire about this pass when planning a visit.
New York State Access Pass: This pass is available to New York State residents with permanent disabilities and offers similar benefits to the Golden Age Pass, including potential camping discounts.
NYS Parks Patriot Plan: For qualified military personnel and veterans who are New York State residents, there may be specific programs or discounts available through the Patriot Plan for campsite reservations.
Off-Peak Season Value: While not a discount on the rate, visiting during the shoulder seasons (early September, late May/early June) often provides a more tranquil experience with fewer crowds, which many campers consider a significant "value" or "special offer" in itself. The review mentioning enjoying the grounds outside the gate in the off-season highlights this appeal.
To confirm current rates, specific eligibility for passes, or any unique, albeit rare, state-wide promotions that might apply to Scaroon Manor, it is always best to check the official New York State Parks website or the ReserveAmerica booking portal, which manages reservations for these state facilities.

Scaroon Manor Campground Reviews
I came here for a mini-vacation to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday in early September. We stayed here for 2 nights at site #60 and we had an absolutely amazing experience. The staff were some of the most polite I've met, the landscape is stunning, and the sites were very well maintained. The town this campground is set in is one of the most beautiful examples of quaint small town America I've seen. It's one of those places where everyone knows each other's name and everyone is super friendly. I loved going in to the small "main street" area and going to all the small businesses along the street. This campground is far from any large population center, but there are several stores such as Dollar General about 10 minutes down the road which has everything you would need for camping inside it. The closest walmart is also about a 40 minute drive if you absolutely need it.I absolutely do not recommend this campground for children, I see many complaints on other reviews saying "my kids didn't enjoy it here" and "there wasn't anything fun to do here." There are very few activities available at this campground, so you have to be the type of person who enjoys making their own adventure and prefers to go off the beaten path to enjoy your stay here.All-in-all this is the most beautiful and quiet campground I have ever had the pleasure of staying at. It is a absolute hidden gem. For every camper who wants to do some REAL camping with a tent and despises those "glampers" and their cushy RV's I highly recommend sites #60 and #55. Thank you!
Sep 15, 2020 · M PVery busy during the peak season as it is a lovely NYS campground on Schroon Lake. I like to go in the off season, park outside the gate & enjoy the grounds which include the beach & the old ruins of the amphitheater
Sep 16, 2024 · Nathan JuneWe really enjoyed this camp ground. At first I was a bit worried with the openness that I would not like it but we stayed on a good note which had lots of privacy. The entire campground is really clean and nice to walk through. We did not even put on bug spray because they where non-existent. The beach here is a bit small for a lake so big but overall it's a great campground. You can purchase wood right outside the gates for 5 dollars a bundle. There is also a cool old ampitheater that you can explore. Def would recommend and I will be going back
Jul 02, 2018 · Jordan RakoskeThis is an unusual State campground in the Adirondacks because of its spacious open grassy areas. Most Adirondack campgrounds operated by the State have no grass cover and are heavily treed with dead leaves and pine needles only. This is a relatively new campground and was the site of a former upscale resort hotel with a rich history. The aforementioned grassy areas were the resort’s golf course. The beach is tiny but adequate. If you desire shade and trees, choose sites in the Amphitheater Loop. Be prepared for mortal combat with black flies and gnats. The hamlet of Schroon Lake is a ten minute drive and has everything you will need for provisions as well as dining.
Aug 25, 2022 · Wayne ClarkWe didn't camp here so we can't comment on that part. We just came to explore the old amphitheater. It was fun to explore it and imagine what it must have been like in its glory. It's sad to see it in such disrepair now. We're thankful for being able to go in and see it and for the information signs. The lake is beautiful as well as view. The whole place appears to be very enjoyable.
