This unique blend contributes to its "Reserve" status by the Florida Legislature and makes it a fascinating place for ecological exploration.
- Historic "Cracker House" Trading Post: The park office, housed in an original "Cracker House" dating back to between 1890 and 1912, adds a touch of historical charm. Visitors can relax on its wraparound porch and observe the surrounding waters and wildlife.

Savannas Recreation Area Reviews
this is our 2nd year spending a couple weeks here in January. we absolutely love it and will be back next year for a longer stay. The walking path is paved and 4 miles into the swamp. there is also a couple miles of paved paths through the camping park for bikes and walkers. Kayaks and bikes to rent at a very reasonable price. pickle ball court and dog parks. picnic pavilions everywhere. the camping spots are large with full hook ups. right now it is $29 a night. you just cannot beat that price. close to lots of beautiful beaches with free parking and life guards. close to everything else you could possibly need. Great area. security locked gates at night. I like to go shelling and make things from my finds. there are lots of apple snail shells here. so I made a tree for the office, it's on the mantel.
Feb 01, 2025 · Sue BrucknerReally memorable experience camping there. You find yourself surrounded by wildlife and wildlife enthusiasts. If it weren't for the brightline trains going through every 45 minutes it would be a tremendous spot to camp but it kind of spoils it.
Apr 25, 2025 · Michael BlumeI’m just here to walk around nature… it was a 5 stars prior that new upgrade. It saddens me. I enjoy it until perhaps one day this wildlife won’t exist In florida for the least. I’ll pray it will remain as is. I saw yesterday and today more ciment paved path, but further from the RV park, a new wood bridge and a lot of construction machinery, sadly pulling out tree from ground- I heard for a new bike trail. It’s heartbreaking to see those alligators, pups and other wildlife to have their natural habitat to be destroyed. The more I look the less I see those places 😕
Feb 11, 2025 · Linda DurbessonNot a very big campground but sufficient. The campground has a small dog park. Enjoyed our last minute stay. We did not have reservations and they accommodated us.
Feb 12, 2025 · Patricia Pettersen ChaparroWonderful people and accepts good condition older RVs. The ladies at the office were so wonderful and helpful. The gentlemen doing maintenance were friendly and considerate. The showers were free and hot. I loved the peace there. No loud noises, plenty of walking and the dog park is awesome. I loved walking at night. They do get booked up during the winter so check early.
