This park isn't fancy, but it is fantastic for getting away from the city on the cheap. The sky is dark enough for milky way shots right from your campaigning lot. And it's less than half an hour drive from the best dark skies in the South East. There is plenty of nature and wildlife to photograph. And plenty of typical lake activities as well (boating, skiing, swimming, fishing). And they have better than expected local area shopping and medical. It really is fantastic!
Sep 04, 2018 · Phillip ThompsonWhen tent camping (towards the back of the road), I’ve been one of the only ones there. All campsites are a stone’s throw from the lake! My only gripe is that the bathrooms by the tent camping side are always closed.
Jul 14, 2023 · Steven VromantWent camping here over the weekend with my GF. I think this is one of my new favorite spots. I actually wound up buying a piece of property overlooking the lake. Nice camping spots on the water, clean facilities, water, and electric hook-ups. My only complaint is the reservation process. It has to be done online, and there was no service on-site. I did not want to make them online ahead of time as I did not know what spot I wanted. I would recommend driving there ahead of time and picking a spot, then going online at home to make the reservation.
