Apr 17, 2025 · Judy BlancoThis is one of our favorite campgrounds! Such a great rural and intimate location-just walk through the woods to Stone Mountain State Park! Each camper gets personalized service from Barry (Sandy Creek owner) or one of his relatives. Firewood, wifi, electrity, water, playground with accessories, and a clean bathhouse are available. Bring your RV or stay in a tent; most of the sites are RIGHT on the creek! This is worth the drive even if you can only spend the day. It is also only 20 minutes from the town of Elkin, for groceries and supplies and Sparta, NC is only 30 minutes away, right on the NC/VA border.
Dec 28, 2024 · Kristi Antley (Roaming Redneck Writer)One of my family's favorite camping destinations. Kids love the creek and the playground. We love the close hike to Stone Mtn trails too. Great people, historic locations nearby.
Nov 28, 2024 · The HowlsBeautiful, peaceful place to camp. We got spot right next to the creek. It was so quiet there and only 2 other campers on the weekday night we stayed. It's about a 10 minute hike to the Lower Falls in Stone Mountain State Park. Barry, the owner, was very accommodating and easy going. We will be back for sure!
