Indiana boasts a fantastic array of natural beauty and outdoor recreational opportunities, and having a convenient place to set up camp is crucial for making the most of it. Rocky Falls Campground provides a basic but functional base for exploring the Southern Indiana region. Whether you're passing through, staying for a weekend, or looking for a more extended stay, understanding the specific features and atmosphere of this campground will help you decide if it’s the right fit for your plans. We’ll cover everything from its location and accessibility to its available services and what makes it a suitable choice for local users.
Rocky Falls Campground is located at 11901 Deer Run Dr, Evansville, IN 47712, USA. This address places it within the vibrant city of Evansville, offering a convenient balance between access to urban amenities and a natural setting for camping. For Indiana residents, especially those in the southern part of the state, its location provides an accessible escape without extensive travel. Evansville itself is a significant hub in Southern Indiana, meaning campers at Rocky Falls have relatively easy access to local shops, dining options, and attractions should they need them during their stay.
The "Deer Run Dr" address suggests a location that might be somewhat removed from the immediate hustle and bustle of downtown Evansville, providing a more peaceful environment typical of campgrounds. However, it's important for prospective visitors to note that some reviews mention the driveway can be "pretty rough in winter and mud season." This suggests that while accessible, visitors should be prepared for potentially unpaved or less maintained road conditions leading into the campground, especially during adverse weather. For RVers, particularly those with larger rigs, being aware of road conditions is always a good practice. Overall, its location within Evansville offers a practical base for exploring the region.
Rocky Falls Campground offers a range of basic services designed to accommodate RV campers. Based on available customer feedback, here’s a look at what you can expect:
- RV Sites: The campground provides designated sites for recreational vehicles. While specific details on the number or size of sites are not provided, it caters to RV camping.
- Electric Hookups: Electric service is explicitly mentioned as being included with stays, which is a key amenity for most RVers.
- Water Access: Water service is available, although one past review noted experiencing "lost water a few times in the winter," suggesting potential intermittent issues during colder months. It’s always advisable to be prepared for such possibilities, especially during off-peak seasons.
- Laundry Facilities: The campground has laundry facilities on-site. However, one reviewer chose to use "24/7 app operated large machines" in the next town over, which might imply the on-site options are more basic or limited.
It is crucial for visitors to be aware of certain aspects based on past customer experiences. Some reviews mention a "constant sewer smell outside," which could impact comfort. Additionally, there have been notes about customer service interactions, with one reviewer describing a negative experience regarding payment communication. While electric is included, other amenities might be more rustic or require careful planning. It is always recommended to contact the campground directly for the most current information on all services and to address any specific concerns before your visit.
Rocky Falls Campground, while described as "rough hewn" by some, offers several features that appeal to a specific type of camper looking for a more down-to-earth experience.
- Affordable Option: While not explicitly stated, the general tone of reviews suggests it caters to a budget-conscious camper, providing essential services without the frills of a resort-style park. This makes it an accessible choice for many Hoosiers.
- Electric Included: The fact that electric service is explicitly mentioned as being included is a significant highlight, simplifying budgeting and ensuring a key utility is readily available for RVers.
- On-Site Laundry: Having laundry facilities available on-site, even if basic, is a convenient feature for campers, particularly those on longer stays, reducing the need to travel off-site for this essential service.
- Straightforward Approach: For campers who prefer a less manicured, more rustic setting where sites might be "kind of close together" and the environment is less refined, Rocky Falls offers a genuine, no-nonsense camping experience.
It's important to acknowledge that some reviews highlight challenges such as intermittent water loss in winter, a potentially "rough" driveway in adverse weather, and reports of a "constant sewer smell outside." Additionally, there have been mentions of an adjacent "Homeless camp in the trees on the hill" and varied experiences with management. These elements contribute to the "rough hewn" character of the campground. For those who can overlook these aspects and appreciate a basic, functional, and often quiet place to park their RV, Rocky Falls offers a unique proposition within the Evansville area. Its highlights cater to those seeking practicality and affordability over luxury.

Sites kind of close together, rough hewn if you will, lost water a few times in the winter. Electric is included. They do have laundry on site although I went next town over to 24/7 app operated large machines. Driveway pretty rough in winter and mud season. Office guy is nice.
Apr 15, 2025 · Sara RNeighbors were cool, but manager was trippin. There's a big Homeless camp in the trees on the hill. Hound dog howls all day.Constant sewer smell outside. I called on the day I was supposed to pay, tried to pay, and he told me not to pay... Then a couple days later dude came up banging on the door talking about where's my money, you're late like l was dodging him or something.
May 24, 2025 · Caleb sherlingThis is just far enough outside of the city it is still very peaceful day and night. Even right next to the highway, the traffic noise dies down around 10pm, and its so quiet at night, really feels like youre in the country. I can hear the waterfalls running from over 100 yards away with my 5th wheel windows open. The onsite manager is above and beyond helpful. He is honest & trustworthy.
