Riverland Campground is ideally situated at 3919 SE 16th St, Columbus, NE 68601, USA. This address places it just south and east of the main hub of Columbus, a prominent city in eastern Nebraska. Its location is a significant advantage, as it offers the peaceful ambiance of being "just outside of town" while maintaining convenient access to Columbus's shops, restaurants, and other services. This allows campers to enjoy nature without being entirely disconnected from urban conveniences.
Accessibility to Riverland Campground is generally good, with Columbus being well-connected by major roads. For those traveling by RV or car, navigating to the campground should be straightforward. While one reviewer mentioned hearing "train tracks nearby," they also clarified that the noise was "not enough to wake us up" in their camper, suggesting that while trains are part of the local landscape, they don't significantly detract from the camping experience for most. The proximity to the river, a key highlight, also means the area around the campground is generally scenic and conducive to relaxation.
One important consideration, particularly for visitors during the shoulder seasons, is the potential for staffing levels. A mid-April visitor noted not seeing anyone who appeared to work there throughout the weekend after calling on Friday. While this might be less common during peak season, it suggests that campers should be prepared to be self-sufficient or contact the campground by phone if they need assistance. The owner, Bob, mentioned in another review, is noted for being approachable, saying, "if I ever needed anything to stop over at his house," which points to a personal touch in management.
The campground's direct access to the river is a major draw, offering potential for fishing and simply enjoying the tranquil sounds of flowing water. Its slightly out-of-town location helps maintain a quiet atmosphere compared to campgrounds directly within busy city centers, making it a desirable spot for those seeking a peaceful retreat in central Nebraska.

Riverland Campground Reviews
So, I think the location is great. Very beautiful, and just outside of town. There are train tracks nearby we could hear them sometimes, but not enough to wake us up, in our camper. We did go in mid April so not peak season, that might explain some of the negatives. I did not see anyone that appeared to work there the whole weekend. When I called on Friday to ask questions, someone did awnser, but if we needed anything while there, I don't think anyone was around to help.My rating would have been higher but the restrooms brought it down. Plus side, they had hot water, that lasted a long time. Now for the negatives. I think they only have one restroom/ bathhouse while we were there someone locked the door to the whole womens side, so I had to wait till they were done showering. In the women's restroom the trash wasn't taken out in the two days we were there, it looked like it had been there a while. There was used cans and take out cups in the last shower stall. Both showers allowed water to escape and make the tile slippery, in the last stall you can tell the subfloor is getting soft from it. And best for last there was a mouse turd on one of the sinks, my husband said the men's side was about the same.At the back of our campsite were tampon applicators, and other trash. I would stay here again, there might be less staff in the off season causing some of the issues we had.
Apr 28, 2025 · Cassie PredmoreThis was my first camping trip of the season and I wanted to see some sites in Columbus so I picked this campground as it was pretty new and I’ve not been there before. The owner Bob greeted me and told me if I ever needed anything to stop over at his house. I used my WanderNebraska book to locate and visit the Columbus public library where they had a display where you could donate garden seeds or pick up some seeds to plant for free. It also happened to be Columbus garage sale weekend which was fun and rewarding! Then I visited Wilke plant nursery to find some perennials. Riverland campground was the perfect spot for my homebase to come and go. My camping spot was so close to the river, it was a quiet area, and I could see there was so much potential for this campground to keep building for the future. Five star
Jun 04, 2025 · Lori Sue AndersonThe campground is a perfect spot to enjoy the Platte River. Our site was near the river. But, the wind was blowing quite a bit. The site was dirt but was level. We stayed in the area with water and electricity. The power was stable, and the water was decent. The price was right as well. We would stay here again if we happen through Columbus, NE.
Jun 25, 2025 · Steve BealWe had a wonderful stay at the Cottonwood Cabin. It’s a beautiful piece of property right on the river with spectacular views. Perfect for large families and events. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating to all your needs. The cabin was very clean and the beds were super comfortable. We’ll definitely be back.
Apr 25, 2024 · Stacy RobertsThis is the best RV park in Columbus. We stayed in RV spot 28. Good location. Nice view of the river. Quite a few trains at night and early morning. Not too bad of you are on the spots by the river. Bathroom has two showers and three toilets. Back toilet and shower is private with a door. Good water pressure. A bit dusty but typical for an RV park. The wood chips around the space are nice but we still got a lot of stickers in our shoes.
