River Ranch Camping Introduce
Hello, fellow Iowans! If you’re searching for a genuine, no-frills camping experience that allows you to truly disconnect and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of our state, then River Ranch Camping in Nashua might just be the spot for your next adventure. Located amidst the serene landscapes of Northeast Iowa, this campground offers a rustic charm that appeals to those who appreciate simplicity and the great outdoors.
River Ranch Camping aims to provide a relaxed and unpretentious setting for campers. While it has a more laid-back approach to operations, as highlighted by a review mentioning self-selection of sites and a call-back system, it caters to those seeking an independent and peaceful camping trip. One reviewer noted, "Restrooms are pretty clean," which is a fundamental aspect of any comfortable camping experience. The presence of a "nice gentleman cutting the grass" also suggests a continued effort to maintain the grounds, even if the overall impression might hint at a less hands-on management style at times.
It's important for potential visitors to manage expectations, as the campground might present a more "abandoned" or "unkept" appearance upon first arrival, as described by one customer. Challenges with "electrical boxes not working properly" and difficulty reaching staff immediately were also noted. However, the potential for a "beautiful place in the past" suggests a charming foundation, and the "person in the office was very nice" points to a friendly presence once contact is made. The highlight of finding a "frog I found in the women's restroom" might be an unexpected, charming anecdote for some, adding to the rustic and natural feel. While the playground might "could use a slide or two," it still serves its purpose for children. River Ranch Camping appears to be a campground that offers a straightforward, natural setting, best suited for campers who are self-sufficient and appreciate a more independent and serene outdoor experience, embracing its rustic charm over polished amenities.
River Ranch Camping is located at 2575 Cheyenne Ave, Nashua, IA 50658, USA. This address places it within Floyd County, close to the border of Chickasaw County, in the scenic northeastern part of Iowa. Nashua is a small, quiet community known for its tranquil rural setting and proximity to the Cedar River, which is a significant feature for outdoor recreation in the area.
Accessing River Ranch Camping involves navigating a "mile on dirt road," as mentioned in a customer review. This suggests a journey that takes you off the main paved roads, contributing to the secluded and rustic feel of the campground. For Iowans, this typically means it's a manageable drive from nearby towns like Charles City (approximately 18 miles away, as one reviewer noted) and Mason City. While it might require a slightly adventurous spirit due to the unpaved access road and potentially less signage immediately upon arrival, the location promises a genuine escape into the countryside. Its proximity to the river is a major draw, offering opportunities for fishing, kayaking, or simply enjoying the peaceful waterfront. This location is ideal for those seeking to disconnect from urban life and immerse themselves in Iowa’s serene natural landscapes.

River Ranch Camping Reviews
We had called a month ago and they told us no reservation were needed. They would have site available. I can see why. We got to the office after a mile on dirt road. We got there and it looked abandoned. Old vehicles and moving van. There was a number on the office door and we called. We got a voice mail that said pick a site and they would contact us after 5. There was a nice gentleman cutting the grass. He tried helping us. We looked at a few sites but the electrical boxes were not working properly. We decided to call other campgrounds and found one in Charles City only 18 miles away. It's beautiful on a river. Too bad it looked like it was a beautiful place in the past.

Jul 03, 2024 · Sydney BurrVery good prices. Right on a river. They provide shuttle services. Sites are nice. Power and water at most sites. No reservations needed. Shower building is less than desirable, but not nasty. Dusty gravel road to get there.
Jul 31, 2022 · Russell MillesOnce you get to the campground its looks nice but passing the front area makes you ask why did I come here. The best is yet to come just keep going after self check in at office. 25$ night full hooks. Grounds well kept. You will be surprised. I was!!! Didn't use facilities except full hook ups and no issues. Would return.
Sep 06, 2016 · THE STEEL SHOPBasically, if you're a straight, white, non-disabled individual, you'll probably be ok. The campground seemed fairly excluded and shaded, and otherwise nice. However, whoever said it was wheelchair accessible should be seriously have their credentials removed! No paved pathways at all, just awful crushed gravel. Popping a wheelie wasn't quite enough to get my chair into their main building, and someone had to grab my wheelchair and lift the front tires over the threshold, and then, with a lot of effort, I could get the rest of the chair in too. Leaving the building was just as precarious, and almost fell out of my chair in the process. Their restrooms are also completely pitiful excuses for being accessible. I have a small chair, and could barely fit without some serious maneuvering. Also, this is NOT A SAFE PLACE for anyone who isn't straight or gender non-conforming! I came here for an event kind of knowing things could get dicey, and the people running the place threatened my use of the restroom, so because of their bigotry, I had to leave an event I paid for, and I most certainly do not plan on visiting again.
