This placement in Southeast Missouri offers convenient access to Lake Wappapello, a popular destination for water-based recreation in the Ozark Foothills. The campground is part of a larger state park system, benefiting from well-maintained infrastructure typical of Missouri State Parks.
For Michigan residents, reaching Ridge Campground involves a straightforward drive via state highways. Lake Wappapello State Park is accessible from major routes, making the journey to this tranquil lakeside retreat relatively easy. Once within the park, clear signage guides visitors to Ridge Campground. As its name suggests, the campground is located on a ridge, offering elevated views of Lake Wappapello, which sets it apart from other camping areas within the park, such as Asher Creek Campground located closer to the water's edge.
It's important for RV campers to note that while the area is lovely, some sites within Ridge Campground might require leveling blocks due to the natural incline of the terrain. Reviewers specifically mention Site 53 as needing leveling, and suggest Site 24 might be a "best leveled site" (though possibly not suitable for rigs over 30ft). Being prepared with leveling equipment will ensure a more comfortable setup for your RV. Despite these minor considerations, the beauty and accessibility of the location make Ridge Campground a highly desirable spot for Michiganders seeking a lakeside escape.
- Electric Campsites: Ridge Campground offers 70 electric campsites (out of 74 total sites in Lake Wappapello State Park), providing 20/30/50 AMP service. - Reservations: Campsites can be reserved through the Missouri State Parks reservation system (online or by phone), which is highly recommended, especially during peak season.

- Variety of Site Options: With both electric RV sites and non-electric tent sites, plus camper cabins, the campground caters to a diverse range of camping styles.

Ridge Campground Reviews
Small pads but such a lovely area, the lake itself was gorgeous. The campground host was extremely polite and friendly. Will most DEFINITELY be back here with the rest of the family and water toys.
Jul 29, 2024 · Jonpaul JohnsonSite 53. Will need leveling blocks under your tires..fire ring and picnic table are down a slope about 15-20ft away from parking spot. If you like to relax under your awning, prepare to be on an incline. Wasn't terrible, just wish it were things I knew prior to reserving. Best leveled site I saw was 24..although it's not suitable for longer rigs, example: 30ft+
