Ramblewood Cabins & Campground Introduce
For us New Hampshirites, especially those drawn to the wild beauty of our Great North Woods, finding a place that truly feels like a home base for adventure is key. Pittsburg, way up north, is legendary for its vast forests, pristine lakes, and unparalleled opportunities for outdoor recreation. If you’re looking for a campground that combines comfortable lodging with direct access to everything the North Country has to offer, then Ramblewood Cabins & Campground is precisely the kind of place we locals rave about. It’s more than just a place to stay; it's a gateway to year-round exploration, backed by genuinely friendly faces.
Ramblewood has a rich history, started over 30 years ago by Paul, who grew up visiting the family hunting and fishing camp nearby. What began with one cabin and a horse pasture has grown into a beloved destination with both cozy cabins and spacious campsites, all meticulously cared for by Paul and his family, who still run the place. Visitors consistently highlight the "absolutely gorgeous campground," "clean facilities," and the "incredibly kind, welcoming and helpful" owners and staff. This isn't a massive, impersonal resort; it’s a place where you feel like part of the family, whether you're here to hit the ATV trails, cast a line in First Connecticut Lake, or simply enjoy the peace and quiet of the New Hampshire wilderness. And for those of us who travel with our furry companions, the "Doggie friendly!!!!" policy is certainly a major plus.
Ramblewood Cabins & Campground is ideally situated at 59 Ramblewood Rd, Pittsburg, NH 03592, USA. Pittsburg is the largest town by area in New Hampshire, forming the very tip of the state’s “Great North Woods” region, bordering Canada to the north and Maine to the east. This location is a prime base for outdoor enthusiasts, placing you amidst vast expanses of forest, mountains, and the famous Connecticut Lakes headwaters.
While Pittsburg is certainly a drive from Southern New Hampshire, the journey north on Route 3 is scenic and well-maintained, transforming from bustling towns to serene woodlands. Ramblewood's property spans 180 acres and offers easy access to major trail networks. Their cabins and campsites are strategically placed to offer privacy while ensuring convenient access to outdoor adventures. One of their cabin locations, on Day Road, even boasts "direct access to the Ride the Wilds ATV trail network," with "ample trailer parking." This is a huge benefit for those bringing ATVs or snowmobiles. The campground's proximity to First Connecticut Lake (some cabins are just a half-mile away) means lake access for boating and fishing is a breeze. Despite its remote feel, Ramblewood provides essential amenities, including "Wifi and cell service" in the cabins, which is a welcome convenience for staying connected if needed.
Ramblewood Cabins & Campground offers a comprehensive range of accommodations and services designed to cater to various guest preferences, from rustic camping to comfortable cabin stays, all with a focus on enhancing the outdoor experience.

Linens, sheets, blankets, pillows, and towels are provided. Each cabin typically includes Adirondack chairs, a firepit, and a barbecue.

Ramblewood Cabins & Campground distinguishes itself with several key features that make it a premier destination for outdoor enthusiasts in the Great North Woods.
- Direct Trail Access: A major highlight is the direct access to an extensive network of trails. This includes the Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club trails (getting snow earlier and staying open later in the season) and the Cohos Trail (a long-distance hiking trail stretching from Canada to Pinkham Notch). Day Road cabins also offer direct access to the Ride the Wilds ATV trail network.
- Four-Season Operation: Unlike many seasonal campgrounds, Ramblewood's cabins are designed for four-season use, allowing guests to enjoy winter activities like snowmobiling and snowshoeing, as well as spring, summer, and fall adventures.
- Stunning North Country Scenery: The property offers "gorgeous" views, including sunrise views of Mt. Magalloway from some cabin decks, and is surrounded by protected forests and the tranquility of First Connecticut Lake.
- Friendly and Welcoming Owners/Staff: Consistently praised in reviews, the owners are described as "so incredibly kind, welcoming and helpful," and the staff as "super friendly." This personal touch greatly enhances the guest experience.
- Spacious and Clean Sites: Both cabins and campsites are noted for being "very clean" and having "plenty of space," ensuring a comfortable and private stay.
- Excellent Fishing Opportunities: Pittsburg is renowned for its fishing, particularly in the Connecticut Lakes and rivers. Guests can enjoy fishing from the private docks or explore further afield.
- Variety of Outdoor Activities: Beyond motorized sports, the area offers excellent opportunities for hiking (including direct access to the Cohos Trail up Covell and Prospect Mountains), biking on logging roads, berry picking, swimming, and wildlife watching (including "Moose Alley").
- Convenience: Cabins having full kitchens, Wi-Fi, and cell service, combined with a general store nearby (Green Acres Country Store & Kitchen is across the street from Day Road cabins), add significant convenience to a wilderness setting.

Mar 16, 2025 · Ana MWhat a nice camping! It was our first night ever with our new camper and we couldn't have ask for better. The owners are very nice and accomodating, they let us do a late arrival. The sites are clean and beautiful with gorgeous views. The toilets, showers and common grounds are very well maintained. We will be back for sure and for a longer stay.
Sep 05, 2023 · Tousignant “Lévis” marie-ClaudeStaying in red spruce, #10 cabin.Nice and clean. Will sleep three with a double bed and twin bed in the single bedroom. The living room is small but nicely furnished.Decent sided kitchen with most everything you need for an extended stay.Bring your own condiments, herbs, spices, salt and pepper. Paper towels also at a premium. They furnish towels, and bedding. Pricing was commensurate with other places in the area and less than about half of themBest part of the cabin is that it is about two miles away from the main campground. Quiet! The deck has a couple of Adirondack chairs. Also a fire pit but need to buy local wood.
Jun 29, 2023 · Stephen GWhat a great campground!!! It is beautiful in the Northern part of New Hampshire. Ramblewood has very spacious RV sites built on a hill around a field with sweeping views of The First Connecticut Lake and the mountains beyond. There are many opportunities for outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking or ATV/snowmobiling.The staff are very friendly and helpful. The camp store has all the essentials at reasonable prices. I CANNOT wait to return here for years to come.
