I found this campground last minute, it honestly was great! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our campsite was very clean! The showers are nice, very hot water! The bathrooms were clean. All the other campers were respectful. Nice quiet campground. My only question was if we could hike the trails surrounding the pond with a dog since the sign said no dogs in day use area? I didn’t know if that was just the beach area or all the trails around the lake? I would love if someone answered this for me. Overall, great trip! We are looking to come back in the fall! - Kathy H

Promotions or Special Offers

As a New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) campground, Putnam Pond Campground operates under standardized state-mandated pricing and policies. Therefore, it does not typically offer private "promotions" or commercial discounts in the same way a privately owned campground might. However, there are inherent aspects of the state park system that are relevant to campers:

  • Standardized Rates: Campsite fees are set by the NYSDEC and are consistent across their campgrounds. These rates are transparent and can be found on the ReserveAmerica booking platform or the official NYSDEC website. Rates are typically per night, with additional fees for out-of-state residents or specific amenities if available.
  • Advance Reservations: The most important "offer" is the ability to secure a highly sought-after campsite. Given the popularity of Adirondack state campgrounds, making reservations far in advance (up to 9 months ahead) is strongly recommended, especially for weekends, holidays, and peak summer dates.
  • Empire Pass: While not a discount on camping fees, the New York State Empire Pass offers unlimited day-use vehicle entry to most state parks, boat launch sites, and recreation areas. If you plan on visiting multiple state facilities, this pass can provide value on day-use fees outside of your camping reservation.
  • Junior Naturalist Program: While not a discount, many NYSDEC campgrounds participate in the free Junior Naturalist Program. This program offers engaging activities and games for young children (ages 5-13) and their families, providing an educational and fun component to their stay.

Prospective campers should always consult the official NYSDEC camping website or ReserveAmerica for the most accurate and up-to-date pricing, availability, and specific rules regarding maximum stay limits, pet policies, and quiet hours. There are typically no external discounts (e.g., AAA, AARP) applicable directly to state campground fees.
