Jun 10, 2025 · Sierra RodriguezThis campground is so perfect. It sits right along a large creek where it empties into the Upper Iowa River. We were in tents and our spots were bordering the creek. The campground has a few bikes that are free to use. They also have a sand volleyball court, basketball court and provide balls to use. They sell ice and firewood from 8am-8pm too from the registration office/gift shop. We had a great time and are already planning another trip.
Jun 10, 2025 · Bev MasonGreat spot to camp with kids and dogs. Other campgrounds are notoriously loud and filled drunk party kids - this one was quiet by 10 pm. Despite its large size, access to bathrooms and the creek or river is super easy.
Jun 29, 2025 · Niklaus JakobIt’s our favorite campground and a great town with lots of things to do in the area, including hiking, biking and kayaking. Excellent sites with a spring fed trout stream running through the campground. They sell firewood and rent kayaks on site too.
Jun 18, 2025 · Robin GallowayWe camped site 33 (electrical, tent). This campground was the best maintained campground I have ever stayed at. The bathrooms especially were so clean! There were hooks and benches in each of the showers. No gross hair or trash or cobwebs in sight. We were there over Memorial Day weekend which I pressume to be one of their busiest weekends and the bathrooms were so clean! There was a great playground for the kids. Our tent site had a beautiful view of the river. Many lovely trails nearby. The sweetest little free library in the shape of a camper. And a new pavilion with picnic tables. Our site had a picnic table of its own and fire ring with a grill and fire poke. The only downside was that the electric hookup was a fair distance away so you do need an extension cord (which we saw in other reviews and were prepared) but there are only 2 outlets between 3 sites. So we did have to ask the neighbors for a turn with the outlet which wasn't ideal but they were very friendly and accomodating. The campground seemed like a family spot and everyone was very respectful of others and of quiet times. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had trouble getting our fire going and they had tips and a fire starter for $1. It was also very convenient to be so near town - although you still feel like you're out in the country. Mabe's pizza was a nice way to get out of camp dishes one night! Some of the sites are very near the highway and I wouldn't want to stay in one of those especially with kids. But our site was far away from the highway and the noise was minimal. We stayed for 4 days and 3 nights so I think we got a decent idea of the place. It was a great experience. Highly recommend.
