Portsmouth Camp Meeting Reviews
I have been attending Portsmouth Camp Meeting my whole life. I started on the youth plan at the age of 12. Every year is a new opportunity to grow physically, socially, and more importantly, spiritually. Through worship, devotions, and evening services, we learn the importance of being in Gods word on a daily basis, and to earnestly seek after Him. This year was the best year I have ever had. Words cannot describe how thankful I am for effort the counselors made to spend time with us and pray with us. Yes, it is fun to have competitions and to do the extra activities, but in the end, it’s the friends that become family that make it memorable.
Aug 15, 2018 · Christina StanfordI had the best week of camp of my entire life, and all it took was becoming a girls counselor at portsmouth camp. Although the games and activities were so much fun and the competition was high energy, this can be found anywhere. What set the week and this camp apart from all others was the spiritual emphasis and the close knit-family like relationships built together. There was 100% positive participation. Everyone was so uplifting and encouraging to one another whether It be cheering for their team or even the other team. It didn't matter, we were all ultimately a team as older campers helped the younger campers to memorize verses, complete challenges, and strive to grow spiritually. As a counselor I was so thrilled to be a part of the week and I have never been so sad to leave!
Aug 15, 2018 · Alyssa WeigtThis year was my first year experiencing Portsmouth Camp, and I had the honor of being a councilor. Let me just say that I have never experienced anything like this in my life. God revealed to me throughout the week how amazing He truly is by displaying such commrodary, and unity in such a short time. Before camp I was skeptical about becoming a councilor this year. However, it was the highlight of my summer and I enjoyed every second of it. Within a week we became family and developed a Christlike love for eachother that continues on to this day. I highly recommend it for any young person who wants a fun, life changing week and experience God’s amazing love he has for us. I was so encouraged by this camp and I am looking forward to next year! I have only good to say about this place cause God is doing amazing works at Portsmouth Camp!
Aug 15, 2018 · James PaullTo many, Portsmouth Camp is a second home to those who attend. Through a week long encampment, connections are formed that can easily last a lifetime. Not only are earthly connections formed, but also many gain/strengthen their connections with God here at camp. Portsmouth Camp also offers an outstanding youth program plan, where kids, ages 12-18, meet together in Christ and have daily devotions, a week long competition, and daily activities. Activities also include off camp destinations such as the beach, biking, or, my favorite, roller skating. This being my 5th year, Portsmouth Camp has never created a stale moment, for it always leaves me wanting more of the love from the people and friends around me. Every year, I meet new people that I will know for a lifetime. Every year, I pray for it to never end.
Aug 15, 2018 · Jessiah SwalesAt Portsmouth Camp there is a christian youth program called The Plan. This program lasts the whole week and we do tons of fun stuff like going to the beach, roller blading, kayaking, biking, and at the end of the week we have an ice cream social! On top of all these fun activities we also do tournaments and earn points for our teams! This year the green team (which we named the cacti) won and we decided to get chinese food! Although this all sounds fun, there is still devotional/worship time that help us grow our relationships with God and is a great reflecting time. This was my last year as a camper on The Plan but it as the best year! I’ve never felt so close to any friends before and i’m happy to call each of them part of my family. They always knew how to support me, lift me up, made me laugh and at the end of the week... made me cry when we parted ways. The counselors really helped all of the campers with every struggle we had, or trial that we faced, and on top of that, they also knew how to make us all laugh. I am already looking forward to next year and i’m hoping that i’ll be able to help out as a counselor too!
