Apr 24, 2025 · Tony Harder🏕️🏕️🏕️🏕️🏕️ These must be the best public campsites in Michigan. Number 91 is steps from sandy crescent beach. A short path through the dunes and you are on the sand Sign up early as spaces go fast. Others are on a water inlet. Facilities are modern and clean. Group fire pit. Ice and firewood available. Lakeside living for all. Oh, but that beach !🏝️ 🌊🛶🤿 🔥
Oct 23, 2023 · Candyce AbbattThis seems to be one of the few campsites near Port Austin. It is right on the lake which is absolutely beautiful. That was definitely the best part. Bathrooms were clean. Staff was nice. If you have a dog, this site is very dog friendly. But the campsite is very close to the highway, so you hear it throughout the night rather than the sounds of nature. Also, the camp sites are right on top of each other, so you can hear anything your neighbors do. When we went to the bathroom in the morning to shower, the water wouldn’t get hot. I think they might turn off hot water during quiet hours, but I am not sure. There’s also no grate for the campfire pit which makes cooking over the fire a little inconvenient.
Sep 16, 2023 · Jessica EllemWe liked how close our sites have been to the water. Several sites looked a bit tight. Overall great park. Nice hiking trails, great access to the lake, dark skies park and beaches.
Oct 04, 2020 · Teresa Gilin MellerOne of our favorite State campgrounds! We stayed on site 28 for the week of July 2-8. Campsites are electric only and each is a different size, but site 28 was large and roomy and right across from the water spigot. It was right next to a set of stairs that took you down to the beach. The grounds keepers keep both the campsites and beach area clean and tidy. And all the staff is friendly and helpful. But we especially want to say thank you to Melanie, Emily and Jeannie. These women were the cleaning angels! Between the partyers on the week of the 4th and the swarms of bugs that descended each night on every surface in the bathrooms, these ladies had a huge job to undertake. They diligently cleaned both bathrooms 2-3 times a day to make sure things were as clean as possible for the campers. Thank you SOOO much!We love the camp beach especially because you can walk down to the mouth of the Pinnebog river from the campground. Swimming is great because it stays shallow enough for a while so everyone can enjoy the water. We were able to walk our dogs on the beach and they loved it. The campground is close enough to Port Austin to walk the breakwater and for great food and shopping, especially the farmer's market on Sat. You can also drive into Caseville for more shopping and fishing.
