Managed by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, this site is primarily designed as an access point, providing essential amenities for campers and river users. While it may not be the quintessential "getaway" destination for a long, secluded vacation, it serves a vital role for those on the go, offering a reliable spot to rest, recharge, and enjoy immediate proximity to the Black River. Whether you're passing through, embarking on a fishing trip, or need a quick overnight solution with basic hookups, Pocahontas Riverside Campground fits the bill for many local outdoor enthusiasts.
Pocahontas Riverside Campground is located at 723H+8M Arkansas Game and Fish/Black River Access@Pocahontas, Pocahontas, AR 72455, USA. This address, a plus code, indicates its specific location as an Arkansas Game and Fish access point, placing it directly on the Black River in Pocahontas, Arkansas. Pocahontas is a historic town in Randolph County, known for its strong ties to the Black River and its natural surroundings. For Arkansas locals, the campground's accessibility is generally straightforward, situated near major routes that lead into Pocahontas. However, based on reviews, it's important to note its proximity to an "adjacent road," which can result in "loud engine braking." This suggests it's easily reachable but might experience some road noise. Being a Black River access point, it provides direct entry to the river for boating, fishing, and other water activities. Its location within Pocahontas means that campers have relatively easy access to local conveniences, including gas stations, grocery stores, and dining options, which can be a significant advantage for those on a road trip or quick overnight stay. While not deeply secluded, its riverfront position still offers a connection to nature for those passing through.
Pocahontas Riverside Campground, as an Arkansas Game and Fish access point, focuses on providing fundamental services for campers and river users, prioritizing convenience and accessibility for short stays.
Water Hookups: Campsites at Pocahontas Riverside Campground are equipped with water hookups. This essential service allows campers to have a direct water supply at their site, convenient for drinking, cooking, and basic cleaning.
Electric Hookups: Each site also features electric hookups. This is beneficial for RV campers to power their units and for tent campers to charge devices or use small appliances, adding a level of comfort that primitive sites don't offer.
Dump Station: A dump station is available on-site. This crucial service allows RV and trailer campers to properly dispose of their wastewater, making the campground a practical stop for those traversing the region.
No Reservation Needed (Typically): According to a past review, the campground often operates on a "just show up" basis, meaning reservations are not typically required. This offers flexibility for spontaneous travelers or those in immediate need of a site.
Bathroom Facilities: The campground provides bathroom facilities with toilets. However, it's important to note from past reviews that these facilities may be basic, with potential issues like overflowing stools and a lack of warm water for showers. Campers should be prepared for a rustic experience in this regard, or plan accordingly.
Boat Launch/River Access: Being an Arkansas Game and Fish "Black River Access" point, the campground inherently offers convenient access to the Black River. This makes it ideal for launching boats, fishing, or simply enjoying the riverside environment.
Tent and RV Camping: While not explicitly detailed, the presence of hookups and general reviews suggest that the campground accommodates both tent and RV camping, offering basic spots for either type of setup.

Pocahontas Riverside Campground Reviews
We were desperate for a site after being told a reservation elsewhere in the city was not held. We stayed here just for the night. It was very loud engine braking right off the adjacent road. Has water and electric at site and a dump station. For a quick passthrough overnight, yes. For a getaway-no. Didn't need a reservation -just show up.
