Accessibility to the campground is generally good, though travelers should be aware of a specific navigation tip. If using GPS and approaching from the east on Highway 14, avoid turning onto the dirt road at Crown Avenue. This direct access to recreational facilities within a short distance makes the campground highly convenient for local users seeking a well-rounded outdoor experience without extensive travel. Plum Creek Campground & RV park Reviews
We stayed at this campground due to its close proximity to the Laura Ingalls Wilder museum. The campground is peaceful (even when it’s at capacity) and very well kept. The non-seasonal sites are electric only (30-50 amp) but there’s water, a dump station and a very clean bath house available on site. You’re in a county park with amenities that include a swimming lake, a walking path, playgrounds and nine basket disc golf course. Our site was level and had a spectacular view. We really enjoyed our stay here.
Aug 29, 2023 · Scott WallmanThis is a beautiful park! They do have seasonals but they are very well manicured and newer RV’s only. The park ranger drives thru, throughout the day, which is nice. We needed a bit of tree trimming as we have a very high profile RV. The maintenance staff were there in about 20 minutes to carefully and cleanly take a few branches down that are hitting our trailer. Laura Lake was really nice did kayaking and canoeing. There are trails to walk inside the park. We were there for the Laura Ingalls Wilder museum which was only a few minutes away. I would highly recommend this beautiful park for a day or several days. Google alert: if you follow google going east on 14, it will try to have you turn right on a dirt road, Crown Ave. DO NOT TURN HERE! It is not a good road and has a low clearance train trestle at the other end. Continue into Walnut Grove, just down the road a bit. Then turn right onto 20, then left on Crown Ave(paved here). Enjoy!
Jun 08, 2024 · Wendy TveitCabins:Great experience in the cabins! We have rented a cabin Tues to a Weds in Aug. They are clean and slept our family of 6 perfectly. Includes a fridge, table w/ four chairs, counter area + two twin over full beds. Bring your own bedding & sweep when you leave. You enter using a door code they send you ahead of time. We loved cabin 6 with the large lawn space our back.Campground:The campground was pretty empty but was nice because the kids had the playground & lake to themselves. Renting a kayak was so easy with their online reservations system + this trailer where you pick up the kayak with a code & timed entry (rentals last 2 hrs). The kayak came with everything we needed including life jackets. We paid $15+tax for a 2 person kayak.Camp store & office:The office is only open Fri/Sat so there wasn’t really any interaction for check in/out. They emailed me a code ahead of time & I emailed when we checked out. We bought a bundle of wood by putting $5 in a drop box at the store & grabbing what we needed.Overall we had a great time! It was the perfect spot to stay for our trip around the Laura Ingalls Wilder landmarks & museum.
Aug 21, 2024 · BeckaVery nice campground. Clean bathrooms and shower. Very nice play ground. The beach and lake are clean.
Jun 10, 2024 · Kaitlin KompWe stayed at a primitive Lake Laura site and it was amazing. Quiet. Remote. We were able to put our tent in a spot that was a bit protected from the wind storm. No grill rings provided and a little buggy! Still one of our favorite campsites in years.
