Pleasant Forest Camping Club is more than just a campground; it’s a community-focused outdoor retreat nestled conveniently close to the vibrant city of Olympia, Washington. With a history stretching back decades, this club offers a unique blend of natural tranquility and practical accessibility, making it an ideal choice for a wide range of campers, from those seeking a brief escape to individuals looking for a more long-term, stable, and affordable living solution. It’s a place where the simple joys of camping—like enjoying the quiet of nature—are readily available, while still being just a short drive from all the necessities and attractions of urban life. The ethos of the club emphasizes safety, security, and a peaceful environment, as echoed by residents who have found it to be a reliable and pleasant place to call home, even for extended periods. This balance of nature and convenience is precisely what makes Pleasant Forest Camping Club a standout option for locals in Washington.
For many, the idea of a "camping club" brings to mind a sense of belonging and continuity, and Pleasant Forest lives up to that. It fosters an environment where members can truly settle in and enjoy the natural surroundings without the constant worry of typical short-term campground turnover. The fact that families have had connections to this place spanning generations, as one review highlighted from the 70s and 80s, speaks volumes about its enduring appeal and stability within the community. This deep-rooted presence offers a comforting reassurance to new members and visitors alike, knowing they are joining a place with a history of providing safe, quiet, and enjoyable experiences.
Pleasant Forest Camping Club is strategically located at 4922 Puget Rd NE, Olympia, WA 98516, USA. This address places it firmly within Thurston County, in the South Sound region of Washington State. Its proximity to Olympia, the state capital, means campers have incredibly easy access to a full range of city amenities, including grocery stores, dining options, retail centers, medical facilities, and entertainment venues. This is a significant advantage for campers who appreciate nature but also value convenience.
Furthermore, its location makes it particularly appealing to military personnel and their families stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM). As one resident shared, living at Pleasant Forest while stationed at JBLM offered a "safe, secure, quiet, and very affordable" alternative. The relatively short and straightforward commute between the base and the campground allows service members to enjoy a peaceful retreat after demanding training exercises or duty, without sacrificing accessibility to their work or necessities. Puget Road NE itself is generally well-maintained, ensuring smooth access for all types of vehicles, including RVs. Its position within the broader Washington road network also means it's easily reachable from other major cities like Seattle or Tacoma, making it a viable option for weekend escapes for a broader range of Washington residents. The club's location truly offers the best of both worlds: a serene, natural setting that feels secluded, yet remains incredibly connected to urban conveniences and major transportation arteries.
Pleasant Forest Camping Club focuses on providing essential services that prioritize comfort, security, and affordability for its members, particularly those seeking longer-term stays or a consistent base for their outdoor adventures. Based on customer feedback and general club models, you can typically expect the following:
- RV Sites: The club likely offers various RV sites, potentially including options with full hookups (electricity, water, sewer) to accommodate modern recreational vehicles, allowing for comfortable, extended stays.
- Tent Camping: While primarily known for RVs, many camping clubs also provide designated areas or sites for traditional tent camping, appealing to those who prefer a more rustic experience.
- Utilities: Access to essential utilities such as electricity and water is a core offering, crucial for both RV and potentially some tent campers. Specific amperage (e.g., 30 amp, 50 amp) for RVs would depend on the individual site.
- Restroom Facilities: Well-maintained restroom facilities, often including flush toilets and showers, are a common amenity in established camping clubs, contributing to a comfortable stay.
- Laundry Facilities: For long-term residents or those on extended trips, on-site laundry facilities are a significant convenience.
- Security: A recurring theme in customer reviews is the sense of safety and security. This often translates to controlled access, well-lit areas, and a generally monitored environment, providing peace of mind for residents.
- Quiet Environment: The club is consistently described as quiet, suggesting a commitment to maintaining a peaceful atmosphere for all members, free from excessive noise or disturbances.
- Affordability: As highlighted by a past resident, the club offers "very affordable" rates, making it an attractive option for those seeking a cost-effective living solution or extended vacation.
- Community Atmosphere: While not a tangible "service," the nature of a "camping club" often fosters a sense of community among its members, leading to a friendly and welcoming environment.
The true allure of Pleasant Forest Camping Club lies in its unique combination of natural beauty, strategic location, and positive community attributes. Here are some of its key features and highlights:
- Peaceful Natural Setting: Despite its proximity to Olympia, the club is described as a "peaceful retreat in the middle of nature." This indicates a wooded or natural environment that allows campers to de-stress and enjoy the outdoors away from city bustle.
- Convenient Proximity to Amenities: A major highlight is its close drive to "anything I needed." This means easy access to shopping centers, restaurants, medical services, and other urban conveniences in Olympia, providing the best of both worlds.
- Safe and Secure Environment: Repeated emphasis on "safe, secure, quiet" in reviews underscores the club's commitment to providing a protected environment for its residents and their belongings, which is particularly valuable for those with long-term stays or who travel frequently.
- Affordable Living/Camping: Its affordability is a significant draw, making it an accessible option for a wide range of individuals and families, including those seeking an alternative to traditional housing.
- Ideal for JBLM Personnel: For those stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, the club offers an unbeatable combination of convenience and a tranquil living space, a welcome change from military barracks or more expensive off-base housing.
- Generational Appeal: The fact that families have maintained connections to the club for decades speaks volumes about its enduring charm and reliable experience, fostering a sense of legacy and trust.
- Summertime Enjoyment: "Summers at the club are unbeatable," according to one review. This suggests that the club offers a particularly pleasant experience during the warmer months, perhaps with specific activities, community gatherings, or simply the joy of outdoor living in a favorable climate.
- Managed Environment: Unlike primitive dispersed camping, a camping club offers a managed environment, which typically means maintained grounds, operational facilities, and a structured approach to camping that appeals to those seeking more comfort and fewer surprises.

Pleasant Forest Camping Club Reviews
My parents owned lot in the 70's and 80's. Was Curious to see if it was still a business.
May 13, 2025 · margo b.Lived here while I was stationed at JBLM. I was gone often for training exercises and this place was safe, secure, quiet, and very affordable. Plus, it was a peaceful retreat in the middle of nature, but very close drive to anything I needed! Summers at the club are unbeatable.
Dec 05, 2024 · Kayla HodgesI called and they lady I talked to was screening me to see if I was over 55 years old and had a family. Sounds like discriminating against me "Agism" to the fullest. After I told her we were grandparents( We're not) she said that we are not a good fit. Sounds like she only wants elders that are in their sixties and older, with no visitors. Then she says the upfront costs are $4,000.00 and an additional $4,000.00 to help the get a new septic(sewer system), plus $200.00 a month in Club fees. Being a "Blackman" red flags🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩went up like "Fireworks"🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎆🎆. This Club is a "Good Ole Boy" RV Park that only caters to certain kinds of people and ages. The reviews were awful and I asked the lady to address them, but all she did was make the reviews more accurate. I asked to speak with the Board, and she said they only speak to members and not potential members. "Karen" -Not her real name was more worried about "Quiet Time" and not getting a customer that could add a positive twist to their RV experience( their loss) .If I was you, "Run far away from this place". It is one of two lawsuits away from filing for "Bankruptcy". 💰🚽☢️Toxic Environment.
May 10, 2024 · David SmithThis is A private club not A business open to the public. It is managed by club members and most of the employees are members or volunteers. We've been members here for 5 years and really like it here. We bought when we lived in AK and wanted A place to stay and store our cars and RV in Oly while visiting. We've since moved back to Oly and keep our lot because it's convenient to store the 5th wheel there and nice to have A quiet place to escape to. Almost everyone we have met here has been friendly and fun. The members are pretty vigilant about keeping an eye on things and being on the lookout for something out of the ordinary. I think my stuff is safer here than in my storage unit in town, if something happens on my lot in the park my neighbors will try to sort it out for me and will let me know if I have an issue. Sure there are rules but they make sure you know them before you join and they haven't changed much in the last 5 years. PFCC for me has been A reasonably run and priced, fun place to visit in my down time. It's not perfect or professional or polished. It's A camping club governed and operated by volunteers.
May 29, 2024 · Eric NordstromLove the place and residents. The people who run it are outdated and antiquated... This place needs a younger mindset to come in and help liven and enlighten everyone.
