Pipi Campground Introduce
Are you a Californian seeking a serene and consistently welcoming retreat into nature, a place where generations return year after year for peaceful relaxation and enjoyable outdoor activities? Pipi Campground, nestled in Somerset, CA, is just such a treasured destination. Beloved by its loyal visitors, some of whom have been "coming here all my life," this campground offers a unique blend of natural beauty, thoughtful amenities, and a truly hospitable environment, making it a perfect escape for our local community.
Pipi Campground stands out for its exceptional "site spacing," ensuring that campers enjoy a sense of privacy and tranquility, even during busier periods. This thoughtful design contributes significantly to the peaceful atmosphere that so many visitors cherish. Imagine setting up your camp with ample room to breathe, surrounded by the quiet hum of nature, rather than the close quarters often found in other campgrounds. This feature alone makes Pipi a highly desirable spot for Californians looking to truly unwind and reconnect with their surroundings without feeling overcrowded.
Beyond the spacious sites, the presence of a "fun mild river" adds another layer of appeal, especially for families and those who enjoy gentle water activities. Whether it's wading, exploring the banks, or simply listening to the soothing sounds of flowing water, the river is a central part of the Pipi experience. This combination of spacious, private sites and natural water access creates an idyllic setting for both relaxation and mild adventure.
What truly elevates Pipi Campground, according to its dedicated visitors, are the camp hosts like Mike and Holly. Described as "warm welcome" and individuals who "work hard to keep this place clean and safe," these hosts play a crucial role in fostering the campground's inviting and well-maintained environment. Mike, notably a "forest expert," even shares insights into nearby places to explore, transforming a simple camping trip into an enriching educational experience. This level of dedication and personalized interaction makes Pipi Campground feel less like a temporary stop and more like a cherished community, encouraging visitors, like those who "plan to come back every year," to return time and again for a consistent and delightful outdoor experience.
Pipi Campground is located in Somerset, CA 95684, USA. This address places it in a beautiful, less-traveled region of California, nestled within the Sierra Nevada foothills. For Californians, Somerset offers a gateway to serene natural environments, away from the more densely populated tourist areas, yet still accessible for a convenient escape.
While the exact road leading to the campground isn't specified in the reviews, its location in Somerset implies accessibility via well-maintained county or state roads that wind through scenic landscapes. The fact that repeat visitors drive "about a 3-4 hour drive" suggests it’s within a manageable distance for many Californians seeking a weekend getaway or a longer vacation from major metropolitan areas like the Bay Area or parts of Southern California. This balance of being "out there" in nature while still being within a reasonable driving range is a key factor for local adventurers.

Pipi Campground Reviews
Been coming here all my life. Great site spacing and a fun mild river.
Jun 29, 2025 · Chris SorensenMy husband and I stay at Pipi every year. We love this peaceful campground. Mike is the host and he always gives us a warm welcome. He works hard to keep this place clean and safe. Holly is also a great camp host and a pleasure to be around. This year we stayed for two weeks and we got to explore more of the roads and forest than we have before. Our camp host Mike is a forest expert and he filled us in on some nearby places to explore. What an incredible place. It's about a 3-4 hour drive for us and we still plan to come back every year.
Aug 16, 2024 · samantha meyerGreat campground. Big, clean and spread out sites. We had such a wonderful time. We had a 3x campsite that was perfect for our big group. 18 people and 6 vehicles. The picnic tables had just been painted. There was a beautiful wood plank walkway that runs next to the river.
Sep 30, 2024 · Angela TownsendWe only stayed one night at this campground. It's in a beautiful location with the river right next to it. My family had fun fishing, swimming, and walking the trail next to the river. The vault toilets were clean enough. Vault toilets aren't going to be pristine. The only feedback I have is that the campsite wasn't cleaned before we got there at check-in time. There was trash from the previous campers that we cleaned up. The other thing is that the road is terrible to the campground. There were tons of potholes. Very large ones, so go slow. Otherwise, we had a great trip and will probably come back some day.
Jun 14, 2024 · Kelly HowellNice, smaller campground. The grounds are clean and quiet. The Cosumnes River runs through the area. Fished the river and caught lots of small trout. Check out this hidden gem. ALOHA!
