Location and Accessibility: Easily Reach Your Uinta Oasis
Pine Valley Group Campground is located at Wasatch Cache National Forest, FR424, Kamas, UT 84036, USA. Its accessibility is a major plus for groups traveling from different parts of the state. The campground is situated in a high-altitude setting, surrounded by shady pines and aspens, which creates a cool and refreshing atmosphere, especially during the warm Utah summers. The address provided leads you to a site just 10 miles up the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway from Kamas.
For those with accessibility needs, the campground is a great choice as it features a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible parking lot. This ensures that everyone in your group can participate and enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery. Each group site is designed to accommodate a large number of people and vehicles, though for very large groups, it's worth noting that parking can be a concern. It is best to plan ahead and confirm the capacity of the specific group site you reserve. The campground is also well-suited for a variety of vehicles, from cars to RVs.
A unique feature of this campground is its close proximity to the Provo River—about a half-mile walk away. This provides easy access for fishing or just enjoying the sound of the flowing water, while still being far enough away that parents don't have to worry about younger children wandering off too close to the riverbank.
Services Offered
Public Restrooms: The campground is equipped with public vault toilets, a basic but essential amenity for group camping.
Running Water: Running water is available on-site, which is a significant convenience. However, it is always a good practice to bring additional drinking water, just in case.
Tent Sites: The group sites offer plenty of space for setting up multiple tents, with a good mix of open areas for activities and shaded spots for a comfortable night's rest.
On-site Parking: Each group site has a large paved parking area. While this is great for multiple vehicles, larger groups may want to coordinate to ensure there is enough space.
Features / Highlights
Group-Friendly Setup: The campground’s main highlight is its dedicated group sites, which are perfect for large gatherings. The sites are spacious, allowing for both community activities and individual space for tents.
Abundant Shade: One of the most praised features is the plentiful trees that provide ample shade throughout the day, a welcome relief in the sunny Utah climate. The mix of open spaces and shaded areas allows for flexibility in setting up camp.
Kid-Friendly Environment: Pine Valley is considered "good for kids," with plenty of open space for them to run around and play. The campground also offers access to kid-friendly hikes, making it easy to get the whole family out on the trails.
Dog-Friendly: Pets are allowed at the campground, so you don’t have to leave your furry friends behind. Be sure to keep them on a leash as per national forest regulations.
Proximity to Provo River: The short walk to the Provo River provides an excellent opportunity for fishing, playing in the water, or simply enjoying the peaceful sounds of the stream.

May 16 · Rachel KAmazing setup, beautiful views.Lots of trees for shade and larger open spaces for tents and for kids to run around in, plus lots of places under the trees shaded tents.About 1/2 Mile from the Provo River, so easy enough to walk to, but not so close you have to worry about the younger children.Lots of hiking trails as well. The only downside is there may not be enough parking for some larger groups.
August 10 · Joshua BoothGreat place to camp with one of UTV Rentals, just right by some of the best trails!
July 24 · Uinta AdventuresGreat group camp ground. Huge fire pits, and there were tables available. Great hikes around and plenty of space for large groups. Just camped here 06/13/24 for three days with a large church group. Such a great experience.Note: bring bug spray.
June 18 · Cory AbeelGreat time, great campsites, great group. Everything was clean and nice we had a great visit. Only downside was a dead elk about 100 yards from camp. When the breeze blew from the south every so often we got a fragrant whiff. Great place we will be back sometime soon.
